    Fukang Hospital
Chapter 39: Thank you for your hospitality

In the “Integrity First” live broadcast room:

    […]

[Does this dog of a scammer not even blink when he lies?]

[Hahahahahahahaha love at first sight my ass, isn’t this just trying to trick a ghost?]

[No way, no way? The BOSS won’t actually be fooled, right! Hurry up and make the streamer crash and burn!]

[I think the Black team has no chance left, they’re basically done for. Sigh, even if the Black team captain is still trying to stir up trouble, it can only be a dying struggle at best.]

[Ahhhh help me help me, I want to rush into the screen so badly! Let him go and let me at him!]

[Is this something I can watch without paying!]

[Wuwu, the streamer’s reaction when he was pinned down and had his neck licked was so sexy. Stop tricking ghosts and come trick me! I’m easy to trick!]

Two completely different waves of bullet comments swept across the screen, almost densely covering it.

[But speaking of which, since the Black team’s win rate is the lowest right now, doesn’t that mean the payout odds are the highest? If the Black team captain really manages to turn things around here, he’ll absolutely make a fortune.]

While Wen Jianyan was racking his brains and fabricating lies, he was rapidly assessing his current situation in his mind.

The epic-level hidden item had now become completely bound to him. All he had to do was wait for the one-hour time limit to end, and the system would automatically declare the Black team the winner, allowing him to be transported out of this instance.

By then, no matter how strong this ghost was, it definitely wouldn’t be able to catch him.

Logically, he only needed to stall for time until the snatching battle ended.

However, at this moment, Wen Jianyan suddenly and sharply recalled a detail he had previously forgotten.

Based on his past experiences and his excavation of this Fukang Hospital instance, Wen Jianyan was certain that the route he was taking this time was definitely the main storyline.

Yet, the instance exploration rate only showed 96%. Furthermore, although the ultimate main quest had been triggered, it hadn’t shown as completed.

    In other words…

If he didn’t complete the ultimate main quest, even if the one-hour time limit of the snatching battle ended, he would still undoubtedly die.

Then, what could this main quest be?

He must be only one step away from completing the quest.

Wen Jianyan didn’t stop talking as he discreetly raised his eyes to observe the ghost standing before him.

The black-haired, golden-eyed man stood silently and soundlessly by the bed.

His eyelashes were slightly lowered, and his cruel, icy eyes stared fixedly at the human before him. No superfluous emotional fluctuations could be seen in the depths of his eyes. Pitch-black, chilling shadows twisted and spread around him. That terrifying sense of oppression stemming from a different species was no different from before. It was completely impossible to tell whether he had accepted Wen Jianyan’s explanation just now.

Wen Jianyan forcefully suppressed the fear rising from the depths of his marrow, forcing himself to continue thinking rationally and calmly.

The other party was the “Father God” served by the mirror ghost in the Decai Middle School instance.

Then, why would he appear in [Fukang Private General Hospital], a completely different instance?

If it were a case of the other party understanding the meaning of his last sentence in the previous instance and tracking him down for revenge, that would be one thing. But obviously, as a ghost, or rather, as a “god” in some sense, he was ignorant and naive in this regard.

Why would he appear in this instance?

A possibility surfaced in Wen Jianyan’s mind—could this be the Red team’s doing?

As he rapidly replayed his experience of the entire instance in his mind, this possibility gradually became clear and definite.

Recalling the scene of the “Director” being eroded from the inside by shadows just now, a bold idea gradually formed in Wen Jianyan’s mind.

    “…Love?”

Just then, the man in front of him spoke slowly, interrupting Wen Jianyan’s sweet talk.

His voice was deep and calm, the ending notes drawn out, with a slight hoarseness. Ringing out in the vast space, it possessed a kind of silence and terror that felt as if it could instantly grip a person’s heart tight.

    The man leaned down.

His long, cold, and soft black hair flowed down with his movement, gently brushing across Wen Jianyan’s shoulders and chest, making him instinctively shiver. He subconsciously wanted to lean back, but his movement was blocked.

    “I understand.”

    He said.

Even though the victim had accepted his lie without any resistance, Wen Jianyan felt an even heavier sense of unease. A strong sense of crisis spread in his heart, reaching its peak when he heard the other party’s next words.

“So, you willingly became my food, correct?”

Cold, pale fingers brushed past the side of Wen Jianyan’s neck, pressing against his wound, rubbing slowly with a sense of oppression.

    Wen Jianyan: “…”

    Help!

He controlled his facial expression and gritted his teeth, saying, “Of course.”

The dangerous breath belonging to a beast closed in. The other party’s golden pupils flickered with the faint light of greed in the darkness, locking dead onto the obedient sacrifice that had willingly offered itself up, as if he would bite through his throat and drain his flesh and blood in the next second.

“But, could you grant me one request?”

The young man smiled up at the other party. In the depths of his pale amber eyes shimmered a faint light of pleading, looking fragile and harmless:

“Do you remember our last kiss from when we last met?”

    “…”

The man looked down at him expressionlessly.

“If you are not averse to it, I believe it would be very fitting to use it as a farewell this time.” Wen Jianyan paused, then continued, “It’s just that my current posture is somewhat indecent. I wonder if you would be willing to release me?”

In his ears, there was still a dead silence.

Wen Jianyan could hear his heart beating nervously in his chest, and he couldn’t help but hold his breath slightly.

The next second, a metallic “clack” sounded. The steel shackles that had tightly bound his ankles from the very beginning were snapped by an invisible force and fell to the floor.

    The confinement vanished.

Wen Jianyan involuntarily breathed a sigh of relief.

Like a truly devout believer, he sat on the edge of the bed, extended his arms, and ran his slender hands upward along the other party’s chest and abdomen.

Beneath his palms, through the thin robes formed from shadows, he could feel the man’s firm, undulating muscle lines.

The young man raised his head and stood up using the leverage. His warm, soft lips carefully drew near, gently touching the other party’s Adam’s apple, which was as pale as marble.

Then, inch by inch upward, finally landing on the man’s icy lips.

Wen Jianyan gently and skillfully used the tip of his tongue to pry open the other party’s tightly closed lips, teasingly licking his teeth apart, gently and seductively forcing the other party to tangle their lips and teeth with his.

The young man’s warm palms slid slowly backward along the man’s waist, caressing his firm waistline, climbing up his back, and exploring upwards inch by inch along his recessed spine…

    The next second—

A scalpel cleverly hidden in his palm was gripped tightly, flashing with a cold light. Then, mercilessly and viciously, it plunged into the back of the man’s heart!

Without any hindrance, the blade easily pierced through the man’s body formed of shadows, plunging accurately and ruthlessly into the only physical entity within his body—

    A bright red, beating heart.

    The golden pupils instantly constricted.

In that moment, a familiar mechanical voice sounded in Wen Jianyan’s ear:

[Ding! Fukang Private General Hospital Instance Hidden Route Ultimate Quest has been completed!]

    [Points are being settled!]

    He bet correctly.

For the Director of Fukang Hospital, who was also sewn together from corpse pieces like those other monsters, there was only one possibility—

His weakness was also his heart.

By extrapolating from the ultimate main quest of the previous [Decai Middle School] instance, the ultimate main quest of [Fukang Private General Hospital] should also be related to “eliminating the source of sin.”

Following this logic, it meant killing the Director of Fukang Hospital.

After having his throat slit and his belly ripped open, the Director still hadn’t died.

Then, there must be another way to kill him.

Earlier, when he was the [Mother of the World], he had ordered those two monsters, which were sewn together from corpse pieces just like the Director, to commit suicide—the method they chose was to rip their hearts out of their chests.

Since that was the case, the weakness was the heart.

The final conclusion was also the most perilous gamble, where a single misstep would guarantee death.

The BOSSes of other instances couldn’t be easily summoned into other instances. Based on the mutation that occurred in the Director’s body just now—shadows spreading from the center of the body, the body unable to bear it and beginning to collapse, until it finally perished.

It was simply as if… he had been replaced by some far more powerful existence.

Or perhaps… manifesting in this world using his body as a vessel?

Therefore, taking this theory as a starting point, combined with his understanding of Nightmare’s mechanics, Wen Jianyan made a bold deduction:

This BOSS, with whom he had a grudge, manifested in this world using the Fukang Director as a focal point.

As long as the Director was eliminated, the other party would naturally be expelled from the instance as well.

Wen Jianyan let go of the scalpel, panting heavily, and quickly jumped backward.

In the depths of those amber eyes, the previous submissiveness and sweetness had completely disappeared. What remained was only the cunning and deceit of a scammer. There was no affection, no obedience, only cold calculation and the viciousness of biting back.

He wiped the pad of his finger over the corner of his slightly bleeding lip and hissed, drawing in a sharp breath.

When he had backstabbed the other party just now, the other party’s teeth had subconsciously clenched, leaving a wound on the edge of his lip that was now throbbing with a dull ache.

[Fukang Private General Hospital Main Quest has been completed, unlocking rate has reached 100%, instance is closing…]

    [10, 9, 8…]

Wen Jianyan raised his eyes toward the man in front of him.

As the heart of the Director of Fukang Hospital gradually lost its vitality, the other party’s body, which was originally formed from condensed shadows, began to gradually fade and lighten.

    The darkness began to collapse.

Wen Jianyan poked out the tip of his tongue, licked the wound on his lip, and revealed a provocative smile:

    “Thanks for the meal.”

The man stood calmly in place.

However, Wen Jianyan didn’t know if it was his illusion, but in the depths of those golden, entirely inhuman pupils, a scorching dark fire ignited. Cold, intense, and cruel, it blazed and crackled furiously in the abyss-like depths of his eyes.

He was no longer devoid of emotional fluctuations, indifferent and cold, like an emotionless idol, as he was just moments ago.

    Quite the opposite.

Ice turned to raging fire; the idol turned into a fierce beast.

During the process of his body’s collapse, the other party slowly, inch by inch, curled up his lips.

    He revealed a smile.

The vicious beast rampaged beneath the human disguise. The hungry gaze, filled with murderous desire, locked dead onto the prey before him. His line of sight, like sharp claws, ruthlessly and fiercely gripped the human who dared to provoke him.

As if gazing at his own possession.

    “Love?”

Using the tip of his crimson tongue, the man licked away the human blood from his lips bit by bit.

    He said methodically:

    “I will remember that.”

Of course it’s love! Don’t you want to follow Xiao Wen even more now? He makes you unable to forget him and leave him alone!

On side note, I wonder how will team Red react and what will they do. And if cockcomb hair guy will turn into devoted follower or if he was just a cannon fodder for this instance.

Thank you for the chapter, it was awesome!

Not talking will just get him killed, wouldn’t it? That’s like not defending yourself on a trial.
