WTNL Chapter 741

Chapter 741: Epilogue (12)

Cruise Party

[Part 9]

Wu Zhu walked in from outside, and his steps couldn’t help but pause when he saw Su Cheng.
He turned his head to look at Wen Jianyan: “What’s wrong with him?”

Wen Jianyan: “Reminiscing about the past.”
Wu Zhu: “?”

He didn’t understand humans, but did humans really show this kind of expression when reminiscing about the past?
He carefully looked at the human’s face in front of him again.
Forget it, if Wen Jianyan says it is, then it is.

“Is it all done?”
Wen Jianyan turned his head and whispered in Wu Zhu’s ear.
“Mm.”
“Upgraded too?”
“Mm.”

He stood in place, shifted his feet, and turned his head to look at the cruise ship captain who was still petrified behind him. He estimated that this guy would probably need a while to return to normal.
He hesitated for a moment:
“How about we leave first?”
“Okay.”

“But wouldn’t that be a bit immoral?”
Wu Zhu was puzzled: “Why?”
“True,” Wen Jianyan whispered. “Let’s go, we’ll be a bit quiet.”

Su Cheng: “………………”
Watching the way these two guys tiptoed out, he was almost so angry his head hurt.
…He wasn’t blind!!

[Part 10]

The cruise ship had already set sail, but instead of sailing into that sea area inaccessible to humans like before, it stayed at the boundary line.
Below, the black tide and blue waves were split in two by the ship’s hull.
However, the sky above wasn’t so distinctly divided, presenting a shallow, overly gentle state. The damp sea breeze blew slowly from the distant sea surface, half cold, half gentle.

Wen Jianyan went up to the deck.
The faces of all the waiters looked very familiar; every single one of them was from Dark Fire.
Wearing uniforms, they openly moved about the deck like a walking inescapable net.

“One Violet Fizz.”
Wen Jianyan walked straight to the bar counter and tapped the surface with his knuckles.
“Half the alcohol.”

The waiter behind the bar turned around.
Looking at the fellow Dark Fire member, he was stunned for a moment, clearly unfamiliar with the name of this cocktail.

“Then, Tequila Sunrise?” Wen Jianyan tried another one.
“Sorry, I…”
The Dark Fire member stood uneasily under his gaze. His well-developed muscles tensed under his white shirt; no matter how you looked at it, his whole person was more suited for combat than mixing drinks.

“Margarita?” Wen Jianyan didn’t give up. “Pink Lady?”
“If all else fails, you must know how to make a Mojito!”

A soft chuckle came from beside him.
Wen Jianyan paused and turned his head to look.
Yun Bilan had walked over at some point. She raised an eyebrow and teased, “Your taste in cocktails is quite consistent.”

Every single drink Wen Jianyan just mentioned shared very obvious commonalities: rich in fruit juice, bright in color, and sweet in taste.
And with half the alcohol, it was basically just sweet juice water.

Wen Jianyan turned his head, his face serious: “One Dry Martini.”
Yun Bilan: “…”
Now you’re putting on an act, huh.
I never saw you act this tough back in the instances.

However, at least one thing was clear:
No matter what he ordered, it made no difference, because the person behind the bar genuinely didn’t know how to make any of them.

In the end, Wen Jianyan had no choice but to helplessly take over.
Taking merely a few minutes, he skillfully whipped up a flashy, colorful, richly carbonated cocktail for himself, and finally, inventively stuck a little umbrella on top.

“What, giving up on the mature tough guy look?”
Yun Bilan looked at him sideways and mocked.

Wen Jianyan held his sweet water, speaking without blushing or his heart skipping a beat: “This is called ‘a true tough guy needs no proof’.”
As he spoke, with a kind face but a black heart, he mixed a double shot of super-strong liquor without ice and handed it to Wu Zhu.
“I think I’ll leave this quota to someone who needs it more.”

Wu Zhu finished it without changing his expression: “Well said.”
Yun Bilan: “………………”
You two really are a case of one willing to hit and one willing to endure.

“It is what it is.”
Yun Bilan shrugged, making a rustling sound.

Wen Jianyan: “If there’s anything you need help with…”
Yun Bilan laughed: “Don’t worry, I won’t be polite.”
“You can start by helping me teach someone a lesson,” she seemed to think of something.

“Who?” When asking this question, Wen Jianyan already had a faint guess in his heart.
“That guy in your team named Chen Cheng.”
Wen Jianyan: “…” Not surprising at all.

Yun Bilan said darkly, “He asked if he needed to burn paper money for Su Cheng and me during the meal later.”
Wen Jianyan: “…”
Well, that truly is quite presumptuous.

“I don’t need you to do much, just find an excuse to bring him to my school, that’s enough.” The principal tilted her head, saying terrifying things with a smile. “Don’t worry, I have a sense of propriety, I won’t actually…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Wen Jianyan seemed to see something. He abruptly withdrew his gaze and suddenly stood up straight.
“What’s wrong?” She paused.

Yun Bilan: “?”
However, in just a short half-minute, she realized the reason why Wen Jianyan made a quick getaway.

A white-haired, black-eyed young boy stood in front of the bar counter, staring at the abandoned glass on the counter with eyes as unfathomable as black holes. A few seconds later, he lifted his snow-white eyelashes and looked at Yun Bilan: “Excuse me, was Pinocchio here just now?”
Yun Bilan raised an eyebrow: “Yeah.”

Bai Xue: “Could you tell me where he went?”
Yun Bilan narrowed her eyes, seemingly weighing the pros and cons.
Would it be more fun to see this guy escape, or fail to escape?
Did she even need to choose?

She smiled slowly, lazily pointed in the direction Wen Jianyan fled, and said:
“Over there.”

Wen Jianyan dragged Wu Zhu along, charging recklessly across the deck, drawing side-long glances from the surrounding anchors.
Not far away was a hall with tightly closed doors, which was the place where the party would officially be held.

However, before Wen Jianyan could walk in, he was stopped by a tall, large figure.
“Sorry, President,” the person blocking him was Kong Wei. He said with a muffled voice, “The venue on Dark Fire’s side isn’t fully set up yet.”

“…”
“Of course I belong to your guild,” Kong Wei answered honestly.
“Then why are you blocking me for Dark Fire?” Wen Jianyan was in disbelief.

Before Wen Jianyan could try to start debating the question of “whether the Vice President or the President has more authority” with Kong Wei, a cold young boy’s voice suddenly sounded behind him:
“Pinocchio.”

Wen Jianyan: “…”
The other’s voice remained flat: “Are you hiding from me?”
Wen Jianyan: “…………”

The voice was even, but inexplicably sent a chill down his spine: “But, you clearly promised me.”
“Haha, how could that be… why would I hide from you?” Wen Jianyan forced two dry laughs and turned around. “I just have important business to attend to. In fact, Dark Fire and the others are calling me over to help set up traps…”

“It’s true, President, but the Vice President ordered…” Kong Wei started.

Miscalculation.
If I knew I’d be caught so quickly, I should have just had Wu Zhu turn me invisible.
Wen Jianyan said fiercely: “As your President, I order you to shut up!”
“…”
Kong Wei obediently shut up.

Several minutes later.
Wen Jianyan stopped walking, facing the little tail following closely behind him with a bitter face.
The other party also stopped and looked up expressionlessly.
Pale hair and skin, pitch-black pupils, just staring at him unblinkingly like that.

Wen Jianyan: “…”
Since things had come to this, he finally let out a helpless, long sigh and compromised: “Alright.”
“Give me a moment to prepare, meet me by the bar in five minutes.”

[Part 11]

Five minutes later.
Bai Xue stared seriously at Wen Jianyan not far away.
And on the table in front of them, a deck of playing cards lay squarely.

“Ace of Spades,” he said.
Wen Jianyan flipped his palm, revealing a King of Hearts.
“Seven of Diamonds,” he said.
With a light flick of Wen Jianyan’s finger, a Five of Clubs appeared in front of Bai Xue.

After a few more times like this, Bai Xue stared at the cards on the table in utter bewilderment, completely unable to figure out the reason.
“But, why…”
He looked up: “How exactly do you do it?”

“Do you really want to know?” Wen Jianyan took a deep breath, leaning his body slightly forward.
Bai Xue nodded vigorously.
“Really?” Wen Jianyan continued to lean forward.
Bai Xue nodded even more vigorously.

“Come, pick any card.”

Wu Zhu thought for a moment: “W of Hearts?”
Wen Jianyan: “…”
Wu Zhu: “…Oh.”
He said: “Five of Clubs.”

Bai Xue: “…”
He stared blankly and in disbelief at Wen Jianyan’s fingers.
Seeming to realize a certain possibility, he opened his mouth but couldn’t speak.

Bai Xue: “……………………”
He stared blankly at the scene before him, his pupils contracting, his gaze wavering violently. It was as if in this moment, his former simple, easily deceived self shattered into pieces, flying all over the sky along with the playing cards.

Wu Zhu stared at him for a few seconds, then turned to look at Wen Jianyan, who had slowly retreated several meters away at some point:
“So, is he also reminiscing about the past?”

Wen Jianyan let out a dry laugh.
Hard to say.
Probably half reminiscing, half harboring murderous intent.

“…”
He grabbed Wu Zhu, turned around, and fled with lightning speed.
