WTNL Chapter 264

Changsheng Building
Chapter 264: Delicate

In the darkness, Wen Jianyan walked forward step by step.

The soft, soggy earth beneath his feet made a sticky sound, as though countless corpses were buried deep underneath this road, continuously seeping out thick, foul-smelling blood.

The further he walked, the more blood there was.

By the time he reached the female corpse, the ground beneath him had practically turned into a pool of blood.

The red bridal veil on his head wobbled unsteadily, completely blocking his vision. He had no choice but to lower his gaze and look through the gap below.

Not far away was a pair of scarlet-embroidered shoes.

They floated above the blood, seemingly weightless. Further up was a blood-red long dress.

The female corpse’s pale white hands hung motionless at her sides. Her skin was ashen gray and covered in bruises, and her fingernails were stained with bright red polish, as if dipped in blood. The color was thick and glaring, making it look extremely eerie.

“…”

Wen Jianyan swallowed hard and forced himself to continue moving forward.

Soon, he was standing close to the female corpse.

With his vision severely limited by the bridal veil, Wen Jianyan couldn’t see the corpse’s face.

In the narrow, swaying view, he could only see that the corpse was still standing stiffly in place, completely motionless.

Reflected in the pool of blood beneath, the same red-dressed female corpse stood rigidly. If not for the ominous, oppressive aura exuding from it, one might have thought it was nothing more than a wooden statue.

…The air around him grew colder.

This coldness did not come from the temperature but from an eerie, bone-chilling sensation that felt as though a knife was piercing into one’s body, causing a deep-seated fear to rise from within. The desire to flee was nearly irresistible.

But having come this far, there was no other option but to continue forward.

Wen Jianyan braced himself, grasped the dark green talisman, and slowly raised his hand—

Was it just an illusion…?

In the corner of his eye, Wen Jianyan seemed to notice the crimson sleeves of the corpse swaying slightly as his hand neared.

“?!”

Cold sweat beaded on Wen Jianyan’s forehead, his already chilled fingertips began to tremble, and his stomach cramped.

A strong sense of danger surged through him, and without thinking, Wen Jianyan instinctively lunged forward, as if banishing all fear. In a reckless gamble, he pressed the talisman onto the red-dressed female corpse!

In the “Integrity First” live broadcast room:

[Ahhhhh, save me, save me! I don’t dare to breathe!]

[Holy crap, the anchor is so brave!]

[I’m so nervous, I’ve closed my eyes! Someone tell me what happened!]

Wen Jianyan’s impulsive act was evidently quicker——the red-dressed female corpse’s sleeve wavered but eventually fell silent. In a flash, it was over.

When he came back to his senses, the dark green talisman was already affixed to the scarlet dress.

The moment his fingers left the talisman, a wave of exhaustion and powerlessness hit him.

“Huh!”

Wen Jianyan let out a muffled groan, feeling dizzy and cold. A heavy sense of vertigo struck, and his knees nearly gave way.

No…!

Now wasn’t the time to lose consciousness!

He had to make sure the talisman worked!

Wen Jianyan’s face was as white as paper, but his body somehow summoned the strength to stay upright.

He struggled to lift his eyelids, looking through the wobbling red bridal veil—within his blurred, swaying vision, the pair of embroidered shoes slowly began to move again.

The shoes took a small step backward, then stiffly and slowly turned around, stepping away, one step at a time.

At the same time, Wen Jianyan noticed something else.

Unlike the other “customers,” the dark green talisman he had affixed to the red-dressed female corpse was gradually fading as time passed.

Clearly, the terror it exuded was far beyond that of the other “customers” in “Changsheng Building.”

For other “customers,” once a talisman was applied, it would remain effective unless removed or until the offering was completed. But for the red-dressed female corpse, the talisman’s effect was too weak, so it was slowly losing power over time.

In other words, they had only temporarily driven her away. Even if Mu Sen’s group didn’t have the ability to remove the talisman, the female corpse would eventually shake off its control.

Once the talisman’s markings completely faded, the red-dressed female corpse would likely return to this path and try to enter the “fifth floor” again.

But… at least this proved that his plan was working.

Before the talisman lost its effect, they were temporarily safe.

Realizing this, the strength Wen Jianyan had been holding onto began to fade, and the familiar cold and drowsiness crept over him. His body, which had been sustained by sheer will, started to give way.

In the “Integrity First” live broadcast room:

[OMG! It actually worked!!!]

[I was so scared out of my wits by that red-dressed female corpse. I can’t believe they actually survived—this anchor is insane!]

[The trick was pulling off a glitch. If they’d already entered the courtyard, things would be different, but since they’re still on the fourth floor, the red-dressed female corpse is still considered a ‘customer,’ which is why the talisman worked. Otherwise, they’d be doomed!]

[Wait, have you guys noticed? The livestream signal is starting to get worse!]

[Yeah, I see it… The screen is starting to glitch with static. What’s happening? Is the broadcast about to shut down?]

[!! Wait, doesn’t placing a talisman also drain life force?!]

[Yeah, but the anchor recovered a bit of life force on the fourth floor, right? One talisman shouldn’t be too much of a burden.]

[For an ordinary customer, maybe. But… I don’t think that red-dressed female corpse counts as ‘ordinary’…]

“?!”

“!!!!”

“No! Noooo aaahhhh!!”

Wen Jianyan felt like he was a broken vessel, with his body heat, energy, and life force leaking out through a crack.

Endless darkness and coldness engulfed him.

He could hear someone frantically calling his name, but the voice was fading further and further away.

His heavy eyelids drooped, and the world in front of him began to collapse, unraveling…

So tired.

He just wanted to sleep forever.

The last remnants of strength left his body, and Wen Jianyan’s knees buckled as he began to fall.

In the midst of the spinning world, a pair of cold arms caught him.

Just before his consciousness faded entirely, Wen Jianyan seemed to hear a low chuckle echoing from the darkness.

The next second, his lips felt a cold touch.

Sharp teeth bit down hard, gnawing at him, and a wet tongue easily pried open his weakened jaws, greedily plunging deep inside, entangling with his own tongue in a fierce, suffocating sensation.

“…?!”

The next second, the long-dormant brand on his lower abdomen suddenly flared up with heat!

A scorching, fiery sensation surged through him, as if it would ignite his very blood, spreading through his limbs and bones, forcefully driving away the cold darkness that had been pulling him into slumber.

“Mmmph!!!”

The intense pain pierced his soul, and Wen Jianyan suddenly widened his unfocused eyes. The trembling cry of pain was stuck in his throat, licked and swallowed by those cold lips and tongue.

The foreign god’s golden pupils were inches away.

His already exhausted knees trembled, but another pair of arms easily lifted him.

Wu Zhu’s palms gripped the weakened waist of the young man, caressing the delicate skin beneath the thin fabric, which still retained a human warmth. Countless dark tentecles coiled in from all directions, forcing the other closer.

As his body temperature rose, the lost vitality returned to his body, and Wen Jianyan’s consciousness gradually cleared.

He vaguely realized:

Oh right, this place doesn’t fully belong to “Changsheng Building” anymore, so Wu Zhu should technically be able to appear here…

“Mm? Mmmmmm!!!” Wen Jianyan suddenly realized something and widened his eyes in horror, struggling with all his might.

Damn it! Wait a second!

Appear?! Appear??!!!

Does that mean his other teammates are still watching from behind?!!!

No, no, no, this can’t happen!!!

Unfortunately, since his body hadn’t fully recovered, Wen Jianyan’s struggles were especially weak and powerless.

“Hump…hump…hump…”

Compared to the terrifying supernatural strength of the other, he had almost no ability to fight back. His hoarse, muffled protests, tinged with trembling, spilled from his throat, but they held no deterrence, sounding more like whimpers.

Amidst the sound of entwined lips, it appeared particularly… delicate.

Realizing this, Wen Jianyan’s vision darkened, and he almost fainted from anger.

Shouldn’t have taught him.

I really shouldn’t have taught him.

Why on earth did I teach this dumb god how to kiss when I was bored?!!!

Finally, Wu Zhu, satisfied, pulled away from the other’s lips.

He looked down at the young man in his arms—his silver hair disheveled and stuck to his slightly damp skin. From his cheekbones to his ears, and from his face to his neck, everything was flushed red. His amber eyes stared at Wu Zhu with resentment, but the moisture in them made the gaze lose all its intimidating power. His lips, due to the sucking and biting, had become hot and slightly swollen.

Wu Zhu raised his hand and lightly caressed the youth’s burning, delicate cheek with his fingertip, narrowing his eyes slightly, as if in delight: “You’re warming up.”

“…”

Only then did Wen Jianyan realize that the vitality he had lost several times before seemed to have fully returned, and an unprecedented sense of energy and warmth filled his body.

But this didn’t make him any less angry.

“Are you out of your mind?!”

Wen Jianyan furiously grabbed the other by the collar and shouted hoarsely, “What if they saw us?!”

He was so ashamed that he felt like he was going to explode, almost too scared to even look in the direction of his teammates, fearing he’d see their stunned faces.

“How could they see us?” Wu Zhu bent down and licked Wen Jianyan’s lower lip again, “You haven’t entered the fifth floor yet, so I can’t fully appear.”

Wen Jianyan froze, suddenly realizing something, and glanced behind him.

His teammates stood where they were, looking anxiously into the darkness ahead, the worry evident on their faces. They seemed to be shouting something, but Wen Jianyan couldn’t hear a thing.

It seemed that this road really was different from the previous one. Although Wu Zhu had regained some of the control he couldn’t have inside the Changsheng Building instance, he couldn’t manifest his full body like on the previous path — so, it looked like Wen Jianyan would still have to enter the fifth floor to complete the mission.

However, after realizing that none of them had witnessed what just happened, Wen Jianyan couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. His tense body instantly relaxed.

Suddenly, the arm around his waist tightened.

“Hiss!” Wen Jianyan gasped in pain.

He turned his head to look at the man in front of him: “What are you doing?”

Wu Zhu slowly narrowed his eyes and leaned closer: “You don’t want to be seen?”

The golden pupils of the man seemed to hide something dangerous: “Why?”

Wen Jianyan: “…”

He had a bad feeling about this.

“What would happen if you really were seen?” Wu Zhu licked his lips, a glimmer of greed lighting up in his eyes, and he asked in a low voice.
