Chapter 70

If I could defeat them, would you marry me?”

“Constant fighting and killing are not good. The world is so big, and the flowers are so fragrant. Isn’t it better to be a pacifist?”

Half an hour later, in the hotel kitchen, Bai Sheng was frying eggs himself while expressing his kindness.

Bai Sheng was a man who carried a lot of idol baggage in front of his loved ones. After taking a shower and styling himself like the male lead of an urban idol drama, he came out of the bathroom, picked up a fork, took the first bite of breakfast, and immediately expressed his important opinion:

“Are these runny eggs suitable for Supervisor Shen to eat?”

So he threw the napkin and casually went downstairs to the hotel kitchen, lit the fire, heated the oil, and personally fried two perfect heart-shaped eggs, to the amazement of the inspectors who were watching.

The inspectors all applauded and took photos to post on Instagram.

In the world of evolutionists, the hierarchy is clear; whoever has the highest rank is the boss. The news of Bai Sheng’s second evolution has not been announced to the outside world, but all the top brass internally already knew. Now, all inspectors treated Bai Sheng like an ancestor; their attitude towards him was as good as it could be, the applause was as loud as it could be, and the praise was as devout as it could be.

Fortunately, Bai Sheng was not difficult to serve; he neither oppressed his peers nor acted arrogantly. All they needed was to offer Supervisor Shen in exchange for world peace, and everyone thought it was a very cost-effective deal.

The only trouble Bai-ge caused was that last night, for some reason, he suddenly unleashed the Tyrant in the room, with wolf howls sweeping the entire building, instantly disabling all the abilities of the inspectors in the hotel.

But it didn’t matter; everyone’s emotions were stable, unanimously stating that they could accept it. As long as the Wolf King didn’t lose his mind and rush out to kill hundreds of people for fun, he could do whatever he wanted in the room, as long as Supervisor Shen was happy.

Bai Sheng modestly accepted the praise from everyone, liked each of their Instagram posts one by one, and happily returned to his room.

Shen Zhuo, who had been pinned to the ground by the Wolf King all night, was starving. He didn’t even notice the pink salt sprinkled on the heart-shaped fried eggs. He quickly changed clothes while attending a conference call, listening to the intense arguments among a group of high-ranking officials on the other end of the line—”Does the appearance of the Tyrant bring deterrence to global evolutionists?” “Does the Tyrant gene represent a sharp increase in threat level?” “Where exactly is the upper limit of human evolution?” Meanwhile, in the midst of all the chaos, he opened his mouth to eat breakfast. The officials on the other end of the phone, who were arguing vigorously, couldn’t imagine that the legendary tyrant was following Shen Zhuo, one hand holding a plate, patiently gesturing:

“Ah—”

Shen Zhuo, leaning on Bai Sheng’s hand, quickly finished breakfast in three bites. A high-ranking official from the General Administration was fervently speaking in his earpiece:

“The appearance of the Tyrant is a significant event, indicating that the evolutionary forces in Asia have seriously threatened the global balance. Now, I must ask Supervisor Shen from the Asian region to express their opinion on this…”

Supervisor Shen impatiently hung up the call.

“What’s wrong, darling? Is work bothering you so much?” The young Tyrant remained composed, feeding the last piece of fried egg into Shen Zhuo’s mouth. He patiently and gently coaxed, “If the pressure is too much, just resign. Our family can completely support you. A dowry of one billion, a house under your name, and we can even make a pre-marital property gift certificate. Isn’t it great to just go shopping and have afternoon tea when you’ve got nothing to do?”

Shen Zhuo was about to retort, but he accidentally pulled the corner of his mouth, causing him to inhale sharply in pain.

Bai Sheng immediately signaled for him to stop and bent down to inspect carefully. “What’s wrong?”

Then he noticed traces of blood seeping from the corner of Shen Zhuo’s lips and a faint crack.

That was during the most chaotic moment last night when the Wolf King was excessively excited, unable to restrain his brutal instincts. Despite resistance, he forced his thing through his teeth, causing this minor tear in Shen Zhuo’s mouth due to the shallow depth of his oral cavity.

Shen Zhuo had a particularly tough bone structure, but Bai Sheng always felt his skin was as delicate as silk. Any scrape or scratch was particularly obvious. Even the marks from the tie around his wrist had not faded, appearing as a dark red line.

If left untreated, it would take several days to heal. Concealed beneath the cuffs of the chief supervisor’s shirt and black gloves, it remained hidden, invisible to anyone.

A sensation akin to an electric shock passed through his nerve endings, causing Bai Sheng’s breathing to become slightly heavier, but his face remained calm.

“Tsk, look at you.” He pretended not to notice the bound marks on Shen Zhuo’s wrist, only using his thumb to stroke the beautiful corner of his lips, watching as the tear gradually disappeared under the influence of his ability.

“Is your throat still sore?” Bai Sheng leaned in close to Shen Zhuo’s forehead, affectionately asking in a low voice.

Shen Zhuo completely ignored him, turning his head to adjust his tie in the mirror. He gave Bai Sheng a cold glance through the reflection, implying, “What do you think?”

Last night’s shirt, trousers, and even the tie were stained with unknown marks, which had to be packed into the suitcase and taken back to Shenhai. Fortunately, there was a spare set of uniforms in the hotel.

The Shenhai City Supervisor usually wore tightly buttoned shirts, black suits tailored meticulously, and gloves tucked neatly into the cuffs. The bruised mark on the wrist was tightly concealed, revealing no hint of ambiguity.

Shen Zhuo inserted his pistol into his waistband, and his reflection in the standing mirror portrayed a calm countenance, devoid of any trace of ambiguity.

Knock, knock, knock—the room door was nicked a few times, followed by the polite voice of a General Administration inspector, ” Supervisor Shen, Mr. Bai, the car ready to take you to the airport is waiting downstairs.”

Shen Zhuo picked up his luggage, handed it to Bai Sheng, glanced at the last message from Amatullah on his phone, and paused for a few seconds as his gaze fell on the words “arrogant, each with their own background.”

“Let’s go to the airport.” He turned toward the hotel room door. “We must return to Shenhai immediately.”

***

Bai Sheng had wasted too many days at the hotel. Director Gao had already taken Yang Xiaodao and Chu Yan back to Shenhai in advance, leaving only Shui Ronghua behind to accompany them.

At the military airport, the special plane was ready, and Shui Ronghua, who hadn’t been seen for several days, was waiting in front of the tarmac with a large bouquet of fresh lilies. Surprisingly, nestled among the flowers was a pink letter, on which a crooked heart was drawn.

“Oh, who sent these cheap flowers?”

Bai Sheng’s footsteps halted abruptly, alarms blaring in his mind, thinking it was another little fox sending them to Shen Zhuo. He immediately switched to attack mode, “What’s with this pink paper and the little heart drawn on it? Are people’s tastes still stuck in the 20th century? I hate people who turn everything into pink heart shapes. Where’s the creativity? Where’s the taste? Don’t they find it tacky? Do people have nothing else to express their love except this?”

“Mr. Bai.” Shui Ronghua handed the flowers over, saying, “These are specifically sent to you.”

“…………”

Bai Sheng: “Huh?”

“Supervisor Margot has just been rescued and is out of danger. The supervision office in France sent these flowers to thank you and Yang Xiaodao. This letter was written by Margot’s little daughter.” Shui Ronghua opened the pink letter with a suppressed smile, explaining earnestly, “The little girl is four years old, and her sense of aesthetics is indeed quite limited. Please bear with her.”

On the Princess Elsa letter paper, two lines of French were written in crayon:

Dédié au Héros
Gros Bisous, Lina

Dedicated to the Hero. Big Kisses, Lina

“Oh—” Bai Sheng’s inner girlish heart was about to melt. He flew several kisses towards the pink letter, took out his phone to snap a photo, and sent it to Yang Xiaodao. Then, he happily boarded the plane while holding the bouquet in one hand and went to write a reply.

Even with a special flight route, it would still take eight or nine hours for the charter plane to return to Shenhai. Calculating from the departure time, they would only land by evening.

From takeoff, Shen Zhuo began working, with satellite phone calls coming one after another and various meetings following suit. Supervision offices across various Asian countries were in chaos under the second wave of major evolution attacks, and everyone’s first reaction was to seek help from the Central District Supervision Office and the Shenhai Supervision Office.

It was only natural.

Politically, the Central District was the top jurisdiction in Asia, while Shenhai City had the largest number of evolutionists. In places like Myanmar and Vietnam, where supervision offices weren’t even established, the local governments were completely plunged into chaos as soon as the second wave of evolution occurred.

“The two S-classes in Myanmar were both local drug lords, one from Yangon and the other from Shan State. Due to the insufficient geographical distance, the collision of the two S-classes’ pheromones immediately caused conflict after evolution occurred.”

On the other end of the satellite phone, Chen Miao sat in the Shenhai City Supervision Office, his voice unusually grave. “Senior, do you know what this means?”

The charter plane flew smoothly at an altitude of ten thousand meters. Shen Zhuo sat behind the conference table, looking out at the gloomy clouds outside the window, his gaze heavy.

Of course, he knew.

S-class pheromones would fiercely repel each other. So far, there haven’t been any two S-classes coexisting in the same area globally.

Unless they compromised and formed a marital relationship, they would erupt into intense conflict, even self-mutilation, until there was only one supreme alpha left in the area.

“The one from Shan State is a strong S-class, with outstanding combat capabilities and quite brutal methods. He killed the one from Yangon and decapitated him, hanging his head in public during the day, causing massive riots.”

Shen Zhuo lightly tapped the table with his knuckles, his thoughts seemingly elsewhere. “What’s the ability of the S-class from Shan State?”

“It’s ability replication.” Chen Miao said, “This person is extremely fast. As long as he creates a wound on the opponent, he can immediately replicate the opponent’s ability through the wound. Although he can only replicate once, the killing power can increase tenfold.”

Tenfold increase.

Indeed, it was a strong S-class. If he replicated the Tyrant or Causality, they would all be finished.

Shen Zhuo nodded silently and asked, “What about the other two?”

“The other two have relatively normal combat capabilities. The S-class from Vietnam has a control-type ability, which can immobilize all living creatures in the area at once, but the duration is unknown.”

Chen Miao flipped through the information in his hand and continued, “The S-class from Japan seems to be a mixed gangster, with a mental-type ability somewhat like group hypnosis. It was classified as an S-class because it was said that the speed of group deaths caused by the ability was extremely fast.”

Shen Zhuo leaned back in his chair, his eyes slightly narrowed, his mind seemingly lost in thought, with flashes of light in the depths of his eyes.

Previously, there was only one S-class in all of Asia, Bai Sheng. Bai Sheng was extremely restrained with his pheromones and had no intention of suppressing his peers or ascending to kingship. Therefore, all lower-level evolonists were free, and the group order could be described by the phrase “peaceful coexistence.”

But now, things were different.

These three new S-classes each had their own backgrounds and were not to be trifled with. They showed great ambition for power as soon as they emerged and would do whatever it took to fight for territory until they established their own kingdoms.

And the first step to becoming the new boss was to overthrow the old one.

Especially when the “old boss” was a well-known, easy-going rich kid who was very young and had no power. Many people didn’t even know what causality was.

“…Shenhai has the highest number of low-level evolutionists in the world, and this territory is like a piece of fat meat in their eyes,” Shen Zhuo pondered for a moment, then said in a deep voice, “Closely monitor the movements of these three S-classes. If you notice any intention of crossing the border, report it to me immediately.”

“Yes!”

Shen Zhuo ended the satellite call, and a leisurely step approached from behind.

Soon, Bai Sheng stopped behind him, his left hand resting on the back of the chair and his right hand lifting Shen Zhuo’s chin, leaning down to give him a kiss.

“What are you doing, looking so worried?” Bai Sheng looked down at the chief supervisor, his eyes full of laughter, “Worried that someone will rob your house?”

Leaning back in the chair, Shen Zhuo tilted his head back and looked up at him.

Bai Sheng always seemed relaxed, as if he was effortlessly able to handle any situation. No matter how rough the situation, as long as he stood there, he was like a heavy shield, providing an inexplicable sense of stability from the depths of the soul.

An impulse surged up within Shen Zhuo, and he blurted out inexplicably, “Can you defeat three S-classes alone?”

Bai Sheng burst into laughter. “What kind of question is that? If I could defeat them, would you marry me?”

“…”

With one standing and one sitting, they faced each other, their breaths lingering at the tips of each other’s noses. After a moment, Shen Zhuo hastily averted his gaze and began to gather the scattered documents on the table, saying lightly, “Why do you never speak seriously?”

Bai Sheng laughed. “Come on, I’ve given you everything from body to heart. Is it too much to ask for an exchange? You won’t lose out on this deal.”

Shen Zhuo avoided answering, “I’m not interested. Besides, in the eyes of outsiders, Shenhai is your territory. If someone steals from you, they’ll just laugh at you. It’s none of my business as a human.”

Bai Sheng burst into laughter, pulled up a chair, sat in front of Shen Zhuo, and found it quite amusing.

“According to the racial rules of the evolutionists, if an S-class is stolen from, it’s almost like saying he’s dead. If I die, then you’ll be a widow. I’ll write a will leaving all my property to you, and then you’ll be wealthy enough to rival nations, reaching the peak of life… Oh, why are you hitting me?!”

Bai Sheng grabbed Shen Zhuo’s wrist, gently pulling it toward himself, and then completely embraced the supervisor, who had a slightly annoyed expression.

Relaxing into the armchair, he held Shen Zhuo in his arms, their chests almost pressed together.

“If I die, then you’ll spend the rest of your life looking at those few photos in your phone, thinking to yourself, ‘This person is so good; why didn’t I agree to marry him back then?’” Bai Sheng whispered gently in Shen Zhuo’s ear, “At midnight, sitting alone by the window, you’ll think about the new S-classes causing trouble outside, think about those ferocious evolutionists, and then open your phone album to mournfully reminisce about the vivid images of me…”

Shen Zhuo laughed angrily, but unfortunately, both of his hands were held down. “Why would I mourn you? Whichever S-class can occupy Shenhai, let them have it, can’t I just resign and leave?”

“Uh, by then, you probably won’t be able to leave even if you want to, and you might even lose your personal freedom. It’s really miserable.” Bai Sheng shook his head regretfully. “What to do? I can’t even rest in peace when I’m dead. I’ll probably be angry enough to come back to life, even when lying in a coffin.”

“You—”

Bai Sheng, quick-witted, planted a kiss on Shen Zhuo’s eyelid.

“No choice; we’ll have to take preemptive action, try our best to kill others, and make sure we’re not robbed.”

He blinked his eyes slyly and said, “What exchange conditions? What marrying Supervisor Shen? Even if I know there’s a blank check hanging in front of me, what can I do?”

In the cramped space, at the height of ten thousand meters, it felt like there was only the reflection of each other in their pupils.

After a while, Shen Zhuo spoke softly from between his teeth, “…I really want to give you a punch.”

But both of his hands were held in Bai Sheng’s palms, and his entire weight was pressed against Bai Sheng. If he hadn’t tilted his head back, his lips would have kissed those smiling lips in front of him.

“Come on then,” Bai Sheng affectionately stroked his nose, provoking softly, “If you want, come on.”

“…”

The cabin shook slightly in the airflow. Perhaps due to the confined space, their skins were pressed closely together, and the scent of each other permeated from their nostrils to their blood vessels.

“Look at your expression.” Bai Sheng raised his head slightly, his lips brushing against the cool corner of Shen Zhuo’s lips, his eyes filled with affection. “That’s right, there’s nothing to worry about. No matter what happens outside, you have me. What are you afraid of?”

Perhaps in just a few minutes, yet it felt like they had endured a century.

Although no one else could perceive it, Shen Zhuo’s tense body finally softened little by little. After a while, he gritted his teeth and said, “…If you’re killed by someone, I’ll delete your photos.”

Bai Sheng buried his face in Shen Zhuo’s neck, emitting a muffled laugh.

“No, you can’t do that. You can’t delete them.” He raised his head to kiss Shen Zhuo’s earlobe, teasing with an unfinished smile, “What will you put on the wedding projection if you delete them?”

Shen Zhuo pushed away this bastard, annoyed yet amused. “Get lost!”

***

Despite being bombarded with dozens of incoming phone conferences disrupted by Bai Sheng, Shen Zhuo finally managed to relax a little. He even managed to catch some sleep just before landing.

Bai Sheng intended to nap alongside him, but ended up dozing off as well.

Although he had already emerged from the period of drowsiness, perhaps due to the lingering effects of energy, Bai Sheng still found it easy to fall asleep during this time, and once asleep, he slept particularly deeply. He woke up groggily as the plane landed in Shenhai, following Shen Zhuo into the specialized vehicle of the supervision office. He wrapped his long arms around Shen Zhuo in the back seat and soon emitted even breaths of deep sleep.

It was now half past five in the afternoon.

On the elevated bridge, traffic flowed steadily, with traffic lights blinking in sequence under the vast expanse of overcast clouds blanketing the enormous city.

Two fully armed Jeep Wranglers escorted Shen Zhuo’s armored car, one in front and one behind. Shui Ronghua sat in the front passenger seat, preparing to make a call to synchronize the itinerary with the supervision office. Just then, her phone rang, displaying Chen Miao’s name.

“Hello?”

Just two sentences, and Shui Ronghua’s face changed dramatically. “What?”

Shen Zhuo raised an eyebrow from the back seat.

“…I see.” Shui Ronghua’s voice was urgent, and she handed the phone to Shen Zhuo, her tone stern. “There’s trouble.”

Shen Zhuo furrowed his brow, taking the phone. “Hello?”

“Hello, Senior. It’s bad.” The sound on the other end of the call was frantic, with background noise filled with the rush of the carriage and the wail of sirens. Chen Miao’s tone was calm but tense. “Those three new S-class evolutionists seem to have formed a united front. They suddenly appeared at Shenhai Airport, and customs couldn’t stop them. Now, these three individuals have broken into the urban area of Shenhai.”

Shen Zhuo narrowed his eyes.

He knew they would make a move, but he didn’t expect it to be so swift.

“What are their targets, the supervision office?”

The vehicles on the other side of the call came to an abrupt stop. With several bangs of the car doors, Chen Miao dashed out of the vehicle, walking rapidly past the cordon while talking on the phone. “No, it’s not. They didn’t go to the supervision office.”

Numerous police cars surrounded them, and the streets were sealed off. However, more and more low-level evolutionists couldn’t resist the call of the S-class pheromones, gathering from all directions of the city, fear written on their faces as they looked towards the tall building under construction.

“It’s the unfinished building.”

Chen Miao stopped in his tracks, gazing towards the vast expanse of the overcast sky.

On the unfinished high-rise building, several figures could be seen looming high above. An unprecedentedly strong mix of S-class pheromones emanated from them, carrying an indescribable aura of terror as they pressed down on the low-level evolutionists.

“They went to the construction site of the Baihe Group.” Chen Miao gasped, “They’re after Bai-ge.”
