Ping An Asylum
Chapter 140: Bright red, brilliant, soft, like fire
It must be said that Wen Jianyan’s proposal was very sensible. No one wanted to enter the other world of a high-risk serial killer.
Judging from the current situation, nurses and attendants were just ordinary NPCs and did not pose a death threat to them. The real threat comes from the patients inside the Ping An Asylum.
Therefore, a few people quickly formulated a plan.
In a peaceful free activity room, chaos erupted from a corner.
Several patients began to scream sharply and laugh crazily, and the attendants and nurses guarding the door rushed over with disgusted expressions on their faces, trying to maintain order.
In the midst of chaos, Wen Jianyan quietly approached the iron door.
The iron wire provided by Luce rolled between his agile fingers, seeming to have a life of its own, and was easily inserted into the keyhole with a slight twist. The faint sound of metal friction was drowned out by nursery rhymes and chaos, and the iron chains were grabbed by the young man without making a sound.
The gate opened.
Wen Jianyan pulled open the iron door and turned back to glance.
The attendants and nurses were caught up in the chaos and did not notice the few people trying to sneak away. The blond man remained seated in the armchair, his gaze still fixed on Wen Jianyan and a faint smile on his lips, revealing a hint of white teeth.
Despite being bound by chains and shackles, he did not move.
It seemed like he wasn’t planning to call for help or chase after them.
Although this was clearly the scene he had expected to see, a chill ran down Wen Jianyan’s spine for no reason.
The next second—
“Dang-dang-dang!”
A piercing bell suddenly rang without warning, echoing in the empty and dark corridor.
“!!!” Wen Jianyan’s pupils suddenly contracted.
This was bad!
“Run!” he screamed, turning around and sprinting into the darkness.
The rest of his teammates also reacted instantly, running with him into the corridor.
The environment around them changed visibly to the naked eye; everything appeared messy and dirty, with furniture overturned in chaos, and the gramophone jammed and stopped playing.
The moment the bell rang, all the attendants and nurses disappeared.
On the worn-out couch with spilling cotton, the blond man slowly stood up. His tall, muscular body stretched out slowly, and his strong, broad bones made cracking sounds.
“Clang!”
The heavy sound of the shackles hitting the ground rang out, scattering at his feet.
The mad dog was released from its cage.
The next moment, a huge and terrifying axe, sharp enough to crush an adult, appeared in his palm. The sharp metal tip scraped against the ground, sending sparks flying.
Seeing this scene in front of them, the live broadcast room of “Ping An Asylum” immediately became excited:
[Oh, oh, oh! This is the first time I’ve seen this guy released in such a crowded place!]
[Yes, yes, yes, there are not only the anchors in the free activity room this time but also many NPCs, right? This time we can see him go on a killing spree!]
[It’s definitely going to be thrilling!]
Unexpectedly, under the terrified gaze of everyone, the man walked straight toward the door, his pale blue eyes fixed on the dark corridor and a smile on his lips.
He dragged the long axe and stepped out.
As the silhouette of the mad dog disappeared into the corridor, the anchors inside the free activity room looked at each other, their faces still showing shock and panic.
The live broadcast room of “Ping An Asylum” fell into dead silence.

[???]
[This doesn’t seem right at all!!!! Isn’t this guy an indiscriminate killer? How did he not kill a single person?]
[I’m shocked, what’s going on with this instance? It feels completely different from what I remember!]
Wen Jianyan and his teammates sprinted all the way, with the sound of metal scraping following closely behind.
In the “Integrity First” live broadcast room:
[Wow, this guy is really only chasing after them!]
[That’s right…, I saw two easy-to-kill targets appear in front of him earlier, but he just ignored them! This is not logical!]
[Wow, the charisma of this madman is amazing!]
[Hahaha, do you want this charisma?]
[It’s too bad, it’s too bad. He really attracted all the attention by himself!]
The corridor had completely changed, with broken chairs and debris everywhere, walls covered in dried, splattered blood, and deep and shallow cut marks.
“Damn, why is this corridor so difficult to navigate?”
After almost tripping over a half-legged chair again, Luce couldn’t help but curse softly.
Wen Jianyan, who was sprinting with his head down, was startled by something he caught in the other’s words and turned to look, “Wait, the corridor you saw last night, is it different from here?”
“Yeah,” Luce also hesitated, “So you mean what you saw yesterday is the same as it is now?”
“Yes,” Wen Jianyan replied concisely.
He continued to run while asking, “What did the corridor look like when you saw it yesterday?”
“That corridor was covered in graffiti, like it was drawn with crayons by children, from the ceiling to the floor, everywhere.”
Luce looked around and said, “It was winding, and no matter how we ran, you couldn’t get out; there were many forks.”
This was something Wen Jianyan hadn’t considered.
He furrowed his brow slightly, but his running speed didn’t slow down, and his brain was rapidly processing information.
Unconsciously, the sound of pursuit grew closer.
This guy was tall, had overly long legs, and had the energy of a wild beast in his body. Although he was still carrying that terrifying weapon, he effortlessly closed the distance.
Wen Jianyan glanced at the distance between him and himself, and his breath stopped.
He immediately realized one thing.
Running was useless.
In terms of physical stamina, no one could surpass this hunter.
He gritted his teeth, “Let’s split up!”
Su Cheng was puzzled, “But, you…”
“If you want to stay alive, listen to me!” Wen Jianyan said forcefully, “You guys will only slow me down!”
Su Cheng gritted his teeth and nodded.
At the intersection of the next corridor, they split up. Blond and Su Cheng ran madly to the right, while Luces’s team headed to the left corridor.
Wen Jianyan turned his head to take a glance.
Sure enough, that guy was still closely following behind him.
Wen Jianyan: “…”
Although he knew he was often targeted by the instance, it was the first time it had been so obvious.
After confirming that the others had disappeared from view, Wen Jianyan took a deep breath, clenched his teeth, and abruptly stopped his steps. He turned to face the man who had been relentlessly pursuing him.
After running for such a long time, his stamina had reached its limit. Sweat trickled down his forehead, and his chest heaved rapidly.
In contrast, the other man seemed entirely unfazed.
The blond man had once again put on the human skin mask, obscuring his normally refined facial features, leaving only his pale blue eyes peering out from below.
He also came to a stop, his chest heaving with manic amusement. He appeared excited and restless, more like a wild beast that had caught the scent of its prey than a human being:
“Darling, aren’t you going to run anymore?”
“No, I can’t,” Wen Jianyan gasped hurriedly, shaking his head. “I can’t outrun you.”
A smile appeared on the man’s face as he spoke with a sweet, almost hypnotic voice, “It seems you’ve also realized the irresistible attraction between us.”
However, beneath the tone of his words, his arm muscles were tense, and the huge axe was held high.
The sharp tip of the axe gleamed with a cold light, as if it might fall in the next second, opening up the young man in front of him. “Don’t worry, the depths of your body will be incredibly beautiful, I guarantee it.”
The man’s voice was low and filled with a fanatical tremor.
“I feel the same way,” Wen Jianyan replied, his breathing having steadied. His back was drenched in sweat, and his knees felt slightly weak, trembling imperceptibly under the intense pressure. However, his expression remained remarkably calm, as if he were in complete control.
The recent conversation with Luce had given him a new hypothesis.
—About this other world.
The hunter Luce encountered was a moderately dangerous delusional disorder patient, and the corridor was winding and full of forks, covered in messy graffiti.
In contrast, Wen Jianyan had entered the same world as last night, and it had all been exactly the same.
The chaotic corridors, as if ravaged and destroyed, were straight, but everywhere resembled a wasteland.
In addition…
Completing that mission last night was incredibly easy.
Whether it was finding the guard’s office, obtaining the map from there, or locating the patient rooms.
It was all straightforward, with no need for detours.
So, is it possible that the inner world is a manifestation of the patient’s mental world?
If that’s the case…
Wen Jianyan’s gaze fell on the blond man in front of him, his eyes narrowing slightly.
In terms of beast-like physical stamina, his intellect must be quite simple.
【Bloody Mary’s Diamond Necklace (Difficult-level item from Fantasy Amusement Park Instance) has been activated.】
【Powerful Enchantment Countdown: 03:00】
The blond man was momentarily stunned, appearing utterly bewildered.
The slender young man approached step by step, his amber eyes fixed firmly on the beast in front of him, his voice gentle, “I remember, you’re obsessed with the colors of the human internal organs because they’re beautiful, right?”
“…”
The man nodded.
“Bright red, vibrant, soft, like fire.”
Wen Jianyan spoke softly, taking another step closer, with only a few centimeters separating them.
“Again and again, you search for this beauty, making it bloom on your fingertips, only to lose it… so you have to start the search anew.”
“I know you’re not here to harm anyone; you’re just looking for more beauty.”
“The warm and beautiful colors hidden within the human body.”
【Powerful Enchantment Countdown: 01:30】
“If… in this world, it could be entirely dyed in that color, would you like that?”
“…”
A moment of hesitation appeared in those pale blue eyes.
He slowly nodded.
“Well, I know of a way to make this beauty last forever.”
Wen Jianyan’s voice was gentle and soft, like a lover’s whisper. He leaned forward slightly, extending his slender, fair fingers, and gently touched the man’s abdomen.
Following the contours of the muscles beneath the hospital gown, he traced downward slowly, as if caressing yet resembling the licking of a poisonous snake.
“Cut here.”
The young man’s eyes carried a hint of a smile.
“You can have it completely.”
