UE Ch22: Encounter

The anger and hatred from a distant past made Ning Zhuo launch an attack on the windmill he could never hope to match, much like the Don Quixote in stories.

The tip of the long sword swept across a nearby container, cutting through it effortlessly like a hot knife through butter, leaving a jagged silver gash!

The bioroid had always prided himself on his unmatched strength.

When normal people saw him, not to mention being scared to the point of their legs going weak and scurrying away, at the very least, they should know how to protect themselves.

Ning Zhuo’s aggressive advance surprised him, but it did not make him feel threatened or alarmed.

His massive, mountain-like body swayed slightly as he spread his wide palm, sacrificing two fingers to block the force of Ning Zhuo’s sword, while at a speed that was utterly incongruous with his size, he kicked fiercely at Ning Zhuo’s wrist!

If that kick landed, Ning Zhuo would definitely end up with broken bones!

Ning Zhuo decisively let go and retreated a step, catching his breath, but instead of attacking, he raised his leg to hook backward, accurately shattering the chin of a man who had attempted a sneak attack from behind with exceptional flexibility and precision!

Without pausing, he continued to retreat rapidly, dodging the bioroid’s next heavy punch, seizing the already pained man and skillfully using a chokehold to snap both of his shoulder blades!

This clean and hard-hitting fighting style, as tough as diamond, was suffocatingly ruthless.

As the agonizing cries echoed, Ning Zhuo expressionlessly withdrew to a relatively open area.

Calling it “open” was only relative.

The surroundings were still layered with rusted containers, the highest stacking over ten meters, dying the little light that seeped through a deep rust color, creating an eerie atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Ning Zhuo’s hands were as cold as ice, and he discreetly pressed against the electromagnetic gun at his waist, his mind racing.

He indeed possessed both offensive ferocity and nimble agility, but the principle of overcoming many with one was a well-recognized truth in life-and-death battles.

Back then, Ning Zhuo was able to slit Brother Qi’s throat successfully due to surprise.

Moreover, at that time, he was just a 13-year-old kid, still bound, and Brother Qi’s wariness of him was likely less than 1% of normal levels.

This time, Ning Zhuo was facing an unavoidable, head-on confrontation.

Faced with this armored giant, Ning Zhuo clearly knew he couldn’t use his technical advantages to bridge the gap.

Today, he didn’t carry many weapons; his arms were also knife types.

But he only had one liquid metal long sword; the other short knives could either only give him a superficial scratch or be too short to deal with a foe of this scale. It was better to keep a distance in combat, and charging in with a short dagger would be less effective than using it to cut his own throat, which would at least be a cleaner death.

The electromagnetic gun was indeed usable, but the only types of ammo he brought were explosive and blinding.

The blinding type was already loaded in the gun and could be used immediately, while the explosive type required a change of bullet, leaving insufficient time.

Moreover, the terrain here was too unique; although the explosive type had enough lethality, firing one might trigger a chain reaction, causing the containers to fall like dominoes, effectively turning this place into their graveyard.

Thousands of containers could serve as coffins; just pick one.

Not to mention the disgust of dying alongside these scoundrels, that kidnapped child might still have someone waiting for him to return home.

The blinding round was indeed convenient to use, but its lethality was really limited.

Faced with such a massive creature, it was best to strike a fatal blow.

However, having something was better than nothing.

Ning Zhuo made a decision in less than half a second.

During this time, he caught a glimpse of the bound child.

Another kidnapper was dragging him away quickly, pulling him out of the combat zone.

He had somehow managed to slide off the blindfold, revealing a single dark, bright eye that was fixed on Ning Zhuo, seemingly in a daze.

Ning Zhuo felt a vague shadow of suspicion rise in his heart.

This child seemed too calm.

But the heavy footsteps of the bioroid thudded towards him, not allowing Ning Zhuo any more time to think deeply.

Ning Zhuo swiftly pulled out his electromagnetic gun and pulled the trigger.

At the same time, that enormous mechanical shadow had already charged toward him.

The blinding round let out a shrill, piercing sound as it slammed into the bioroid’s face.

Ning Zhuo scored a hit and intended to retreat before the acrid smoke spread, but suddenly a steel arm reached out from the fog, grabbing his arm and lifting him off the ground before slamming him down hard!

Damn it, this bioroid’s eyes were also fake!

Who would have thought that Ning Zhuo, in such a desperate situation, managed to twist his body using sheer strength, stabilizing his footing in the sudden sensation of weightlessness from the upward lift and subsequent drop, then gathered strength, took a step, raised his leg, and suddenly swept toward the bioroid’s face.

The bioroid didn’t hear Ning Zhuo’s scream of pain; instead, he was met with a more reckless counterattack.

This overconfidence would cost him dearly.

The crisp sound of a nasal bone breaking echoed.

Ning Zhuo finally managed to breach his defenses.

However, he didn’t realize that amidst the fading electromagnetic light, the bioroid had already locked onto his weakness.

Most skilled fighters have wide shoulders, robust arms, and thick waists, protected by fat and muscle.

However, Ning Zhuo’s waist was notably thin, which seemed to be a weakness.

He roared and swung his mechanical arm across.

Ning Zhuo was horrified at heart; while dodging, he extended his arm in an attempt to block.

However, the bioroid’s arm was frighteningly long. Despite Ning Zhuo giving his all, he still fell short by two inches and could not escape the attack range.

His side was heavily struck, causing a violent shock to his internal organs. He staggered twice and fell to the ground, almost grinding his teeth in pain.

He tried to stand up, but his body was utterly useless; he felt a wave of numbness and weakness, unable to move at all.

A powerful grip tightened around his neck!

Two meters above ground, a thirty-centimeter long, finger-thick steel rebar was wedged into a container, propped up by the inside debris, rusted over time.

It was covered in muddy moss, serving as a natural yet artificially colored torture device.

The bioroid, whose nasal bone ached unbearably, gripped Ning Zhuo’s neck as if holding a frail rabbit, then tossed him away.

The steel rebar pierced through Ning Zhuo’s left shoulder by several centimeters, nailing him to the container!

Ning Zhuo’s blood surged, and he coughed up a mouthful.

He let out a pain-laden gasp from deep in his throat: “Ha…”

To the bioroid, this sound was a dying moan, a signal of surrender.

Yet the bioroid still felt unsatisfied, wishing he could rush up and snap Ning Zhuo’s neck to finish it all.

But at this moment, a hint of contemplation appeared on his face.

Ning Zhuo knew what he was wary of.

If the roles were reversed, even he would think that this foolish man must have outside assistance.

Otherwise, why would he recklessly come here alone? To seek death?

So there had to be outside help.

Their kidnapping plan might have already been discovered by someone.

The time wasted entangled with Ning Zhuo had likely allowed Ning Zhuo’s accomplices to surround this place.

Now they needed a living Ning Zhuo as a hostage!

Thinking of this, the bioroid turned around, suppressing the sharp pain in his nasal cavity, and hoarsely instructed the man standing beside the bound child, “Take him away.”

The man glanced at the other unconscious accomplice on the ground.

The bioroid coldly said, “He’s of no use. Leave him here.”

The bioroid naturally believed that Ning Zhuo had lost all combat ability.

Daring to turn his back on Ning Zhuo only indicated that he truly did not understand Ning Zhuo well enough.

The intense pain in his shoulder slowly overpowered the pain in his waist.

After regaining a little sensation, Ning Zhuo bit his lip, curled his legs against the exterior wall of the container, and assumed a posture of readiness, covering the bloody end of the rebar with his hand.

The child on the ground noticed his movements before the other two.

His eyes widened slightly, revealing an expression of disbelief.

As if it were a matter of course, Ning Zhuo pulled out the rebar with his other hand.

At the same time, he kicked hard with his legs, unleashing unmatched ferocity!

Blood gushed from the sudden hollow in his shoulder and collided with a line of engine oil spewing from the back of the opponent’s head in mid-air.

Ning Zhuo exerted all his strength, mercilessly piercing through the bioroid’s core!

After puncturing the bioroid from behind, Ning Zhuo did not linger; he flipped over, pulled out the bloodied end of the rebar, and accurately smashed it into the accomplice who was stunned by this sudden change.

The bioroid stumbled two steps before his entire body convulsed in a terrifying spasm, then fell forward like a landslide.

After a cloud of dust rose, in this iron world formed by the container, only the eighteen-year-old Ning Zhuo stood unsteadily with his cold face speckled with blood.

After a few seconds of respite, Ning Zhuo limped over to the boy’s side.

He retrieved a stuck military knife from his cracked and bleeding arm and decisively cut the steel cables binding him.

As soon as he was free, the child quickly removed the object stuffed in his mouth.

Ning Zhuo silently picked him up and threw him over his shoulder. Following his memory, he navigated through the steel maze and directly placed him on the motorcycle’s front seat, facing him, holding him tightly with both arms.

Then he started the motorcycle.

They sped away in silence.

The boy seemed stunned, staring fixedly at Ning Zhuo’s wound.

And with excessive blood loss, Ning Zhuo was already unable to conduct thorough and meticulous thinking.

“Haina” was only half an hour’s drive from here.

Having snatched the boy from the tiger’s mouth and sustained serious injuries for him, Ning Zhuo naturally felt that this boy was his own, with not even a sliver of thought to hand him over to someone else.

Go home.

Take him back with me.

Ning Zhuo held his breath, facing the swirling illusions before him. On the way back, he nearly drove off the winding mountain road several times.

The boy neither cried nor shouted; he simply sat obediently in front of him, gently gripping his blood-stained front, looking up at him, unsure whether he was scared of the speed or scared of him, his heart racing fast, thumping against Ning Zhuo’s ribs.

Ning Zhuo’s vision and consciousness became increasingly dim. When he faintly saw the volcanic rock marking the entrance to “Haina,” he felt his spirit relax, and the immense pain and fatigue surged upon him like an avalanche.

Relying on the last bit of stubborn willpower, he steadied the vehicle and coldly instructed the boy, “Knock on the door.”

After saying this, Ning Zhuo’s body softened, leaning forward, his cold forehead pressing against the boy’s warm shoulder.

At this moment, Ning Zhuo did not lose all consciousness.

He knew he still had things to finish.

He hated this state.

Suddenly, a pair of hands reached over, struggling to push against his chest, lifting his body slightly.

Then, one hand touched the wound on Ning Zhuo’s shoulder, and with bloodied, warm fingers, it traced his face, leaving three streaks of blood on his cheek.

…It did not seem like a panic, but rather as if examining him, testing whether he had truly fainted.

Ning Zhuo was greatly surprised but had no time to think further before being engulfed by a devouring darkness.
