MWED Ch38: Getting What You Wish For

—This is so hard to play!

Chu Tingyun had never been a gentle and elegant gentleman; quite the opposite, he was cunning, stubborn, possessive, and unreasonable, just as Yan Xun described him—an unscrupulous refined scoundrel.

So Chu Tingyun specifically confined Yan Xun to the hospital and isolated himself by going on a business trip to City A.

Of course, he also had to transfer that annoying little fatty away, sending him to the mountains for two or three months to shoot some action scenes, preferably getting tanned and looking worse, so he wouldn’t be constantly hovering around Yan Xun.

“Tsks…”

With his thoughts drifting too far, President Chu quickly returned to his senses. After listening to Assistant Fang’s report, he was silent for a long while before saying,

“I don’t think this matter is just his problem.”

Even though all three investigations yielded consistent results.

But Chu Tingyun knew that Yan Xun, having experienced a car accident with his adoptive father during his youth, had always been very cautious and steady while driving, especially in the rain.

Moreover, why would Yan Xun be driving on a mountain road in the middle of the night?

What was he doing?

Or who was he meeting?

However, Yan Xun’s phone was completely destroyed in the accident, and he lost his memory while in a coma.

The truth of that night was forever unknown.

Assistant Fang was silent for a moment before asking, “Should we investigate again?”

“Not for now, but keep all the materials,” Chu Tingyun said.

With all three parties having investigated and found nothing, Chu Tingyun felt that these places were indeed problem-free; they might need to change direction.

As for which direction, he hadn’t figured it out yet.

Chu Tingyun rubbed his brow and said, “Let’s go to the company first.”

“Yes.”

By the time Chu Tingyun arrived at the company, it was almost eleven o’clock due to the capital’s rush hour. Instead of going straight to his office, he was first summoned by Jiang Shenghai’s secretary.

“Tsks…”

Chu Tingyun frowned slightly but still went to meet him.

“What’s the matter?”

Once the door was closed, Chu Tingyun went straight to the point.

Jiang Shenghai blew on the hot tea he was holding and glanced at him.

“From now on, you don’t need to be involved in any projects related to Hongyuan. Leave those matters to Vice President Liu.”

Hongyuan, the Chen family’s company.

“What do you mean?” Chu Tingyun’s expression darkened.

The old man was the chairman and also served as the group CEO, so he had the authority to make such decisions; now the other party was just informing him.

“Hmph…”

Jiang Shenghai didn’t immediately explain, only giving a slight chuckle.

Chu Tingyun furrowed his brows and quickly figured out the general idea.

Chen Wanqing and Jiang Shenghai were commercially married.

In reality, it was the former who was considered to have climbed higher. The Chen family initially only did small renovation businesses in Nancheng, but they seized the best timing of the real estate boom and moved to a rapidly developing coastal city, making a huge leap.

On the other hand, the Jiang family was an old trading family, mainly engaged in international trade with a wide range of industries extending to several countries.

The marriage between the two was not only a result of Chen Wanqing’s active involvement but also due to a close relationship between their ancestors and Chen’s booming business, which made the match perfect. It started a thirty-year-long cooperation.

In recent years, the market and economic conditions had worsened, and with tightening policies, the Chen family’s decline became more pronounced. The more they declined, the more they borrowed from banks, expanding their business even further.

Thus, an anonymous tip two months ago happened to hit their weak spot, making the large business untenable.

Chu Tingyun then took advantage of the situation. Naturally, this process would result in significant losses for the Jiang family, so the board was reluctant and did not agree.

While both sides were deadlocked, Jiang Jingshu and He Cheng’s marriage ended, and the He family intervened, making a profit. Additionally, with funds borrowed from a trust company, Hongyuan quickly repaired its broken cash flow, paid fines, and perhaps used intermediaries for negotiation, so its situation improved rapidly.

Businessmen are driven by profit.

As the Chen family fell into a crisis, the Jiang family naturally sought to cut ties to survive. But now that the Chen family had recovered and was flourishing again, there was no need to sever ties.

Moreover, among those problematic projects, Jiang’s family had also invested in many. Although real estate was not the main industry of the Jiang family, their investment was considerable. Once it went bad, the losses would be immense.

Since the biggest risk had now passed, a win-win situation was the best choice.

Seeing that Chu Tingyun had figured it out, Jiang Shenghai put down his tea.

“I know you hate her and the Chen family. But Chu Tingyun, don’t do things that harm others while harming yourself.”

Chu Tingyun smiled coldly and replied,

“Then you can assume it was me.”

“…”

Jiang Shenghai didn’t answer.

After the Chen family was reported, they quickly conducted an internal investigation and found nothing, so they turned to Jiang Shenghai.

After all, the two families had a deep cooperation in the past, and Jiang’s group had backups of some confidential project data from those years.

They suspected Chu Tingyun the most since it was well-known that he loathed his stepmother. Using that as revenge against the Chen family was reasonable. Moreover, the insider knowledge required to make such a detailed and precise anonymous report was known only to a few.

Most importantly, there were login traces of Chu Tingyun’s personal account in the company’s internal system, and he had just reviewed the historical cooperation documents with Hongyuan a month before the report.

“—Then you can consider it as my doing.”

Chu Tingyun did not explain further and sneered.

“Unfortunately, I didn’t make it more ruthless, leaving them any chance to catch their breath and recover.”

Jiang Shenghai frowned and covered the teacup, his action having a decisive sense of finality.

“Regardless of whether it was you or not, this matter ends here.”

“…”

Chu Tingyun did not speak further, turned around, and walked out with a cold face.

Indeed, this matter was neither done by Chu Tingyun nor directed by him.

If he truly wanted to deal with the Chen family, he wouldn’t have settled for such a simple action.

He would have used commercial means to directly hit the opponent and collected all the evidence for a formal report. He would make them fall apart with no chance of recovery.

Even if it meant dragging the Jiang family down with him, he didn’t care.

Chu Tingyun didn’t care at all about the Jiang family. When he was first brought back to the country, he never planned to take over their company and assets.

In his youth, Chu Tingyun’s only ambition was to inherit his mother’s dream of becoming an excellent figure skater, gradually advancing to world-class competitions and winning championships.

He endured ten years of rigorous training, almost always in closed, grueling sessions. At the age of fourteen, he won an award at the World Junior Championships. He was a highly talented and hardworking child, and it was very likely that he would join the national team in a couple of years.

But just at that time, his mother fell seriously ill and passed away. Jiang Shenghai took custody of Chu Tingyun and brought him back to the country as his guardian, abruptly cutting off his dreams and future.

“What figure skating? It’s all useless.”

After this statement, Chu Tingyun’s life for the next ten years was planned by his father, step by step leading him to become President Chu.

However, he wasn’t entirely passive. By the time he was twenty-four and his wings began to grow, he started to distance himself from the Jiang family and gradually build his own career.

With his dream already out of reach, Chu Tingyun could only escape in this way.

But Chen Wanqing and Jiang Yuheng had kept a close watch on him over the years. Seeing him rise to higher positions, they were extremely jealous and had secretly caused him quite a few troubles.

So, instead of quickly severing ties with the Jiang family, Chu Tingyun was provoked to change his plans. He continued to invest under his own name, partnered with others to start new companies, but still focused his work within the Jiang family’s group.

Chu Tingyun was determined to stay in this position a little longer, to stabilize himself. Ideally, when the old man died, he would take all of the Jiang family’s assets and even if he donated them all, he would not leave anything for them. He wanted to see that woman’s years of hard work turn into nothing.

In short, that’s how Chu Tingyun had always thought.

He hated the Chen family, but he never intended to exhaust everything to drag them down to the point of mutual destruction.

Chu Tingyun would not waste his time on these people. At most, he would take advantage of the situation and watch from the sidelines. However, he had some unpleasant suspicions about the identity of the anonymous tipster. But after careful consideration, he felt it was unlikely.

In any case, the matter had been suppressed for now.

Ding-dong.

A message popped up on his phone. It was Secretary Li reminding him to go to the meeting room as everyone was waiting.

Chu Tingyun glanced at it, stopped thinking about it, and turned to walk towards the meeting room.

On the other side, Yan Xun had no idea that Chu Tingyun was still investigating the cause of his car accident. At the moment, he was visiting the university he once dreamed of,

—Which was now his alma mater.

This time, Yan Xun brought along Chu Tingyun’s small camera, intending to take some photos to bring back.

There were many little cats on campus, all well-fed by the students, cute and friendly.

At this moment, a large, fat orange cat was lying belly-up in a pile of fallen leaves, sound asleep. Yan Xun thought it was adorable and crouched down to take a photo.

A young man with a cat—such a scene naturally drew people’s attention.

Focused on photographing the little cat, Yan Xun didn’t realize that he had become the focal point of many gazes.

Though the brim of his hat and the camera he held obscured his face, it only made him seem more unique—relaxed, casual, and exuding a certain stylish ambiance.

A girl suddenly crouched beside him and softly introduced,

“This big orange is called Chicken Leg.”

“…Oh.”

Yan Xun glanced at her,

“The name is quite cute.”

“Yeah, because it’s so fat.”

The girl smiled and suddenly asked,

“Senior, are you a freshman this year? Which department?”

“…I’ve already graduated.”

Yan Xun stood up, intending to continue his tour. But the girl followed him,

“Oh, so you’re an alumnus.”

The girl’s smile was sweet, and she politely asked,

“Could you take a picture of me and my friends with the camera? It’s my birthday today.”

“…”

Yan Xun was taken aback and looked past her, noticing several girls nearby who were looking over and making eye contact.

【Yan Xun, remember you are a married man with a family.】

【Don’t attract attention in campus.】

Recalling Chu Tingyun’s serious warning this morning, Yan Xun couldn’t help but smile. Seeing him smile, the girl thought there was a chance, but the next second, she was gently rejected.

“Sorry, this is my husband’s camera. He might mind if it’s used by others.”

“…Husband?”

The girl was shocked.

“Yeah, I’m married.”

Yan Xun said.

“I have something to do. Happy birthday.”

Without waiting for a response, Yan Xun turned and left.

As he walked, he suddenly thought he might need to find his wedding ring again. If he still couldn’t find it in a while, buying a new pair would be fine.

—This time, he needed to buy a good one.

Yan Xun thought that he probably didn’t have much money back then, so the ring he bought for Chu Tingyun wasn’t very good. Now he had over three million in his account, enough to buy a very nice wedding ring.

For the rest of the morning, Yan Xun visited many places and took lots of photos. He planned to develop them and make a photo wall in the living room.

Unfortunately, Chu Tingyun was too busy today; otherwise, they could have taken some photos together.

At noon, Yan Xun went to the cafeteria for lunch and sent Chu Tingyun a few photos of the cafeteria food.

Chu Tingyun replied immediately, looking pitifully and saying he was still in a meeting and didn’t have time to eat.

Yan Xun: “…You can reply during a meeting?”

Xueshan: “Usually, I don’t.”

Yan Xun: “How much longer until it ends? I’ll order food for you.”

Xueshan: “!”

Xueshan: “Half an hour.”

Xueshan: Cat knocking on a bowl emoji.

Yan Xun called to order food for Chu Tingyun. He generally didn’t like takeout, usually ordering from a few fixed restaurants.

Over time, Yan Xun had memorized the phone numbers of those restaurants. He chose the one closest to Chu Tingyun’s company and made the call.

Yan Xun: “Ordered, remember to eat well.”

Xueshan: “Mm-mm~”

The conversation ended there since Chu Tingyun was still in a meeting, and Yan Xun didn’t want to disturb him too much.

On the other side, everyone in the meeting room was holding their breath, waiting for Chu Tingyun’s reply.

Before Yan Xun sent the message, President Chu had just been severely scolding a senior executive. Not long after, they saw their boss’s expression change from a cold fury to a beaming smile.

“Alright, continue.”

Chu Tingyun put away his personal phone, his tone much gentler.

The man who had just been scolded was sweating and cautiously asked,

“Chu… President, what about this plan?”

“It’s not a big problem. Revise it and get it done as soon as possible.”

Chu Tingyun smiled warmly, appearing very easygoing.

As a result, the atmosphere in the meeting room lightened considerably over the next half hour.

Yan Xun was unaware of this. After having lunch at the cafeteria and taking a brief rest, he headed to the auditorium for the lecture.

At the entrance, there was a large stand-up poster featuring a photo and biography of the lecturer, along with an overview of the lecture’s content.

Yan Xun took a closer look.

The lecturer, Academician Ye, was fifty-five years old and from the northern region.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Capital University, then went on to study abroad at a prestigious American university. After graduating, he worked for a renowned research institute for a while, and later married a female biomedical PhD. At thirty, he returned to China with his wife and joined the National Engineering Academy. His career then included a series of impressive achievements.

Academician Ye made significant contributions to the field of artificial intelligence and received numerous awards, leading to his successful selection as an academician five years ago. He was also appointed as an honorary professor at Capital University.

Both an academician and a professor.

However, at the university, he was more commonly referred to as Professor Ye.

In short, every word on this resume sparkled with brilliance.

“Impressive…”

Yan Xun murmured in admiration and quickly entered the lecture hall, securing one of the few remaining seats in the back row.

The seats in the front rows were reserved for university leaders and teachers, while the middle front seats had already been taken by other students.

Yan Xun had thought he arrived early, but it seemed he was still a bit late. Many people noticed him as he entered.

However, Yan Xun didn’t mind. He took out his notebook from his bag, preparing to listen attentively to what the academician would present today.

The lecture started promptly at three.

The auditorium was very large, and from his distant vantage point, Yan Xun could only see a general outline of the lecturer.

Professor Ye wore a light gray Zhongshan suit today. His face was refined and elegant, with a calm and composed demeanor. Though he appeared serious and stern, his tone during the lecture was gentle, and he occasionally made humorous remarks.

He explained the essence of artificial intelligence in simple terms, discussing the current progress and specific applications both domestically and internationally. Using the popular topics of autonomous driving technology and AI-generated art, he introduced some of the publicly available information and research content from the Engineering Academy.

Yan Xun was engrossed in the lecture.

As the lecture was nearing its end, someone suddenly tapped him on the shoulder.

“Hey, Yan Xun, is that really you? I can’t believe you’re here too!”

The speaker’s tone was very familiar. Yan Xun glanced at him and realized he didn’t know this person.

The person was very enthusiastic:

“What’s up? You don’t recognize an old classmate so quickly? It’s me! He Mingyuan! We were in the same class back then!”

“Oh, is there something you need?”

Yan Xun didn’t want to advertise his memory loss.

“Where have you been these past three years?

He Mingyuan leaned in and chatted with him quietly,

“Yan Xun, you don’t know how amazing you were back then. When your team won the Deep Sea Cup award, everyone in our major went crazy.”

“I heard later that you started your own business and managed to pull in over ten million in investments. I thought you’d be the CEO of a big company by now. How come there’s been no news after that?”

“…”

Yan Xun was a bit stunned. It was the first time he’d heard about his own startup. He didn’t respond but asked,

“What a coincidence, you’re here for the lecture too?”

“Coincidence? I’m actually planning to stay at the school for a PhD. This time the school arranged for me to help host Professor Ye.”

“Oh, I see.”

At this point, the lecture had ended.

He Mingyuan said, “I have to go pick up Professor Ye and take him to dinner with the leaders. Let’s add each other on WeChat and catch up next time?”

Yan Xun had no reason to refuse.

So, they added each other as WeChat friends.

Yan Xun had initially wanted to ask Professor Ye some questions, but by now, the professor was surrounded by a lot of students.

Never mind.

Yan Xun packed up his bag and left, not noticing Professor Ye suddenly look up and gaze at his departing figure.

Then, Professor Ye turned to He Mingyuan and asked,

“Xiao He, I saw you talking to him just now. Is he a friend of yours?”

“Oh, just an old classmate.”

He Mingyuan, being very attentive, guided him out while saying,

“Smart guy, but maybe a bit scheming. Before graduating from university, he was running around different companies and made connections with quite a few CEOs. Later, when he went out to start his own business, he was sued for stealing someone’s proprietary program, and the investors immediately pulled out. In the end, he ended up with a lot of debt.”

Hearing the word “plagiarism,” Professor Ye frowned immediately and stopped asking questions.

Meanwhile, after leaving, Yan Xun checked the time. The lecture had ended at four-thirty.

The next moment, he received a message from Chu Tingyun.

Xueshan: [Is the lecture over?]

Xueshan: [Cat looking around emoji]

Chu Tingyun didn’t waste his trip to City A; he had learned a lot of dating tips.

For example, being more enthusiastic and cute in online chats, using more tone words.

And then, using more cute emojis. Over time, the recipient subconsciously associates the emojis with you.

Cute emojis?

Chu Tingyun, who never used emojis before, thought for a while and immediately had Assistant Fang find some for him.

Assistant Fang, accustomed to Chu Tingyun’s various strange requests, always managed to fulfill them perfectly as long as the money was in place.

“There are many types of cute emojis, President Chu. Which style do you prefer?”

Chu Tingyun thought about it and decided that since Yan Xun liked cats, he should get cat emojis.

So, overnight, Chu Tingyun collected thousands of unique cat head emojis.

Yan Xun thought Chu Tingyun’s timing was impeccable.

Yan Xun: [Yes, just finished.]

Yan Xun: [What would you like for dinner tonight?]

Xueshan: [You eat first. There’s too much work, and I have to work overtime tonight. I’ll just grab something simple later.]

Xueshan: [Crying cat emoji]

Yan Xun looked at the tearful little cat and couldn’t help but imagine Chu Tingyun with that expression.

Ugh… indeed very pitiful.

And a bit cute.

Yan Xun: [Okay then.]

He didn’t have many emojis in his WeChat either, but since Chu Tingyun had replied so warmly, Yan Xun searched for one.

Yan Xun: [Hang in there.]

Yan Xun: [Stick figure dog waving a cheering stick.jpg]

At the same time, in his office, Chu Tingyun looked at the little dog emoji and was so delighted he almost couldn’t continue working.

He immediately wanted to stop working and just go home to be with his little husband.

Yan Xun decided to visit Chu Tingyun’s company and bring him something to eat.

He had originally thought of buying flowers, but remembering Chu Tingyun’s dust allergy, he gave up on that.

So, when Yan Xun arrived at the company, he bought a small cake, a cup of coffee, and a fruit platter.

He didn’t tell Chu Tingyun in advance, wanting to surprise him. Therefore, when he arrived at the lobby on the first floor, Yan Xun had to first find the receptionist.

The receptionist’s eyes widened with shock and excitement upon seeing him.

Yan Xun had only been to Chu Tingyun’s company twice.

The first time, she was the one who received him.

It was quite memorable.

At that time, he had arrived in somewhat disheveled clothes, with several buttons missing from his shirt as if they had been forcibly torn off. His hair was a bit messy, and although he had a cold and angry expression, his eyes were red.

Most importantly…

Although he tried to hide it, there were still visible ambiguous hickeys on his neck and face. He looked like a young man who had just been messed up.

The receptionist felt she had witnessed a big scoop.

Seeing him walk in determinedly, breezing through the turnstile with one hand, and intending to take the elevator up, she finally remembered she was at work and hurried to stop him.

“Hello, sir. May I help you?”

Although Yan Xun was very angry and anxious at the time, he stopped and didn’t force his way in. He clenched his fists, controlled his tone, and didn’t take his frustration out on the innocent receptionist.

“I need to see Chu Tingyun.”

“Now, immediately.”

The president of a major corporation was not someone just anyone could see. Besides, she was just an ordinary receptionist on the first floor, and of course, didn’t have the authority to arrange a meeting with Chu Tingyun for a stranger.

But at that moment, whether out of curiosity or being intimidated by Yan Xun’s demeanor, the beautiful and kind receptionist still made a phone call for him.

After a lot of back and forth, Yan Xun finally got through to the executive secretary’s office.

Secretary Li was a bit puzzled by the situation but didn’t think much of it. There were all kinds of people seeking to meet the president every day, and someone without any appointment was probably not very important.

However, for caution’s sake, Secretary Li still asked, “Hmm, what’s his name?”

The receptionist, holding the phone, inquired, “Hello, sir, may I have your name?”

“Yan Xun.”

These two words were more effective than any big company name or personal introduction.

Within three minutes of announcing his name, the receptionist watched in amazement as President Chu Tingyun personally came downstairs to meet him. He greeted Yan Xun with a beaming smile and even affectionately tried to wrap his arms around the young man’s waist. Although Yan Xun pushed him away, they still took the exclusive elevator straight to the president’s office together.

Yan Xun didn’t immediately explode with anger. Despite feeling furious and heartbroken, he didn’t want to cause a scene at Chu Tingyun’s workplace or make him lose face in front of his subordinates and colleagues.

So, it wasn’t until they were in Chu Tingyun’s office and the door was closed that Yan Xun started to argue. Little did he know, despite his efforts to stay composed and appear nonchalant, every private group chat within the company was buzzing with gossip.

First, there was the scoop about Chu Tingyun and the young man, followed by the gossip about the young man rejecting Chu Tingyun.

Although their argument took place behind closed doors, nothing could stop the gossip-hungry hearts.

From then on, Yan Xun became famous within the company.

Later, when Chu Tingyun disappeared for over three months and returned to face severe questioning from the board, almost losing his position as president, it seemed he didn’t care at all. In fact, he took that moment to happily announce his engagement on the company’s internal groups and even the official website—his partner was none other than the young man who had previously come to the company to reject him.

This led to speculation that Chu Tingyun’s disappearance during those three months was all about pursuing Yan Xun.

Wow!

Who was this person who could make Chu Tingyun so infatuated that he was willing to risk his position?

This revelation made the gossip even more explosive.

In short, even though Yan Xun had only visited Chu Tingyun’s company once in four years, the legend he left behind was significant. It was even exaggerated to the point where almost everyone in the company knew him.

“Hello, I…”

Yan Xun approached the receptionist, but before he could explain his reason or identity, the receptionist became extremely enthusiastic.

“Mr. Yan, right? Please come this way.”

The receptionist greeted him with a sweet smile and led him eagerly to the exclusive elevator for the president.

“President Chu will be very happy to see you.”

“Hmm…”

Yan Xun was a bit surprised and uncomfortable with the receptionist’s overly enthusiastic attitude, but he soon realized it might be because he had visited Chu Tingyun’s company frequently before. Such treatment wasn’t surprising given the familiarity.

Anyway, despite the misunderstanding, it didn’t affect the outcome.

Yan Xun felt like everyone was looking at him along the way. He glanced at his reflection in the glass to make sure there wasn’t anything on his face.

It was strange…

Maybe it was because he wasn’t dressed like a typical office worker?

Yan Xun didn’t think too much about it. Secretary Li soon came from the reception area and led him to the president’s office.

Knock, knock.

“Come in.”

The male voice from inside was very familiar, but it sounded a bit different from what Yan Xun usually heard at home—more like someone in a higher position.

Chu Tingyun, feeling frustrated with working late at the computer, was taken aback when he looked up and saw his beloved little husband.

Yan Xun held up the small cake and smiled, “Want some?”

“…”

Chu Tingyun was momentarily stunned. He blinked in disbelief to confirm that he wasn’t imagining things, then immediately stood up and hurried towards Yan Xun.

“How come you’re here?”

“I came to check on our main worker.”

Before Yan Xun could even set down the items he brought, Chu Tingyun pushed him to the door and kissed him.

With both hands occupied, Yan Xun couldn’t resist.

As Chu Tingyun’s hands started to lift his shirt and reach inside, Yan Xun quickly turned his head and whispered urgently to stop him.

“Chu Tingyun, this is your company!”

“It’s fine, the door’s closed.”

“…”

Yan Xun had to dodge and put the items on the desk.

“I bought an ice cream cake; it’ll melt if we don’t eat it soon.”

Chu Tingyun, who liked cold things regardless of the weather, said with a hint of regret, “…Alright.”

They sat down together and shared the cake.

“How was the lecture today?”

“It was very good.”

Yan Xun looked quite happy.

“Professor Ye’s talk was great and gave me some new ideas.”

“Besides the lecture, did you encounter anything interesting today?”

Chu Tingyun casually began asking Yan Xun about the people and events he encountered that day.

Yan Xun, without much thought, shared everything, including meeting an old college classmate.

“He mentioned I used to start a business and raised a lot of investment, right?”

“…”

Chu Tingyun paused momentarily.

“Yes, but you didn’t understand much about business at that time, so you gave it up and found a regular job.”

“I see.”

Yan Xun nodded and didn’t ask further.

After the brief visit, Chu Tingyun had to continue working, so Yan Xun kept him company, helping him select photos from the day and organize notes from the lecture.

They worked until 10:30 PM. When Chu Tingyun finally shut down his computer, he eagerly pulled Yan Xun to go home.

In the elevator, he texted the driver.

At that moment, Yan Xun suddenly said, “I plan to find a driving instructor in a few days.”

“A driving instructor?”

“Yeah.”

Having just received his salary card and listened to the lecture, Yan Xun wasn’t in a hurry to find a job. He wanted to try something different first.

But first, he needed to brush up on his driving skills.

“I used to drive, and now I want to refresh my skills.”

Chu Tingyun reflexively refused, “No!”

Seeing Yan Xun’s surprised look, he softened his tone a bit, “If you find traveling inconvenient, I can arrange a driver for you. Mainly because you had an accident before…”

Yan Xun realized what Chu Tingyun was worried about.

“It’s okay. I don’t need a driver. I just want to learn to drive myself.”

He believed driving was an essential skill. Besides, Yan Xun wasn’t someone who would be scared off by past accidents.

Moreover, he already knew how to drive; he just needed to practice, like picking up old work skills.

“I’ll learn gradually and drive slowly.”

At this point, Yan Xun took Chu Tingyun’s hand and said, “Mainly, in case something happens in the future and the driver isn’t available, I can come pick you up.”

“Pick you up…”

Chu Tingyun’s heart suddenly tightened at that moment.

He let go of Yan Xun’s hand, canceled the elevator’s first-floor button, and quickly sent a message to the driver.

“You can go back. You don’t need to pick us up today.”

The driver, who had just gotten in the car to pick up the boss: ?

Ding…

The elevator reached the basement level.

Before Yan Xun could react, Chu Tingyun grabbed him and hurriedly ran.

Thud.

Chu Tingyun threw open the backseat door, pulled Yan Xun inside, and shut the door.

The thing that almost suffocated him back then was now put into practice.

Chu Tingyun finally got his wish and pulled his little husband into the car, starting to kiss him passionately.
