Chapter 114

The Final Battle

Bang bang bang! Bang bang bang bang bang!!

A hail of bullets swept through the corridor, sparks flying from the metal walls. The fully armed intruders threw a grenade, an electromagnetic high-explosive designed specifically for evolutionists. It arced through the air, and in a flash, Yue Yang flew down like a god descending from the heavens, pushing out a huge barrier in the shape of a yin-yang symbol with one hand. The thunderous explosion was blocked outside by the barrier.

A-class ability: Tai Chi Shield.

Barrier-type ability, which provides one-time resistance to any non-fatal strike attack and can effectively block space abilities without a cooldown period.

The metal corridor collapsed with a loud crash, shaking the ground. Yue Yang turned and tackled Antonio, blocking the heavy falling ceiling with a second Tai Chi shield.

“Let me go! Let me kill them!” Antonio was almost hysterical. “Did you see them shooting at me? Did you see that?! Even a nuclear warhead wouldn’t dare be so arrogant in front of me!!”

“Calm down! You’re Bai Sheng; don’t trigger the No War Zone!” Yue Yang fired his assault rifle, taking down a group of intruders, and in the pause to reload, he pleaded, “Try to buy time until Bai Sheng’s side is done. If that doesn’t work, think about the two million appearance fee he promised you. Did Nielsen ever give you that much when he sent you out on a field mission?!”

Antonio: “…………”

Antonio was overwhelmed with sadness, lamenting, “Before I did this garbage supervisor job, half of South America’s underground arms were ours. The protection fees were in the billions; when did I ever sell myself for a mere two million…”

With a loud boom, a violent explosion occurred on the south side of the meteorite base, shattering the high glass. Yue Yang blocked the raining shards with another Tai Chi shield and heard from behind:

“There!” “They’re there!” “He won’t dare use causality, charge!!”

High-level evolutionists swarmed in. Antonio, filled with anger, generated countless burning bullets around him, swinging them out to shoot down the intruders at the front. More intruders rushed forward recklessly, but suddenly, countless jellyfish tentacles dropped from above, with poisonous sacs swaying in the wind, wrapping everyone tightly!

Within seconds, over a dozen high-level evolutionists were convulsing from the poison, bleeding from their orifices, and falling to the ground.

S-class ability, Artemis, Margot’s Fatal Strike.

Millions of jellyfish tentacles retracted and transformed into Margot’s two arms again.

Margot’s Fatal Strike had the shortest cooldown and could be used the most frequently; thus, she was in the worst condition among them, already pale and shaky. Amatullah held her, leaping down from the high ground, and as they landed, she unleashed hundreds of wind blades that decimated the remaining enemies. She stomped heavily in the pool of blood.

“Bai Sheng’s message just came through; Rong Qi’s men have reached the lab, and that space user is there too!” Amatullah turned, shouting, “Leave this to us, Supervisor Yue; hurry back to support!”

Yue Yang’s mid-fight return was part of Bai Sheng’s plan from the beginning. The sound of a helicopter’s rotor could be heard from outside, prepared in advance to pick him up.

At the base perimeter, more high-level evolutionists were continuously attacking the defenses, many of them Rong Qi’s men, along with extreme evolutionist organizations from around the world who had infiltrated Asia amidst the chaos. Flames, ice spikes, and thunderstorms filled the sky, and corrosive abilities mixed with a black flood, consuming the high walls and electric fences within the blinding high-voltage arcs.

Yue Yang panted and looked at Margot, who was clearly struggling to hold on:  “Will you be okay here?”

Amatullah succinctly replied, “I’ll protect her; now go!”

Yue Yang nodded and launched four Tai Chi shields, the black and white spinning in mid-air, blocking the incoming attacks from all directions. He then dashed up the stairs, leaping several feet at a time, and disappeared into the upper floors in a few bounds.

A torrent of supernatural power attacks came from all directions. Amatullah, Antonio, and Margot, the three S-level warriors, stood back to back and looked around. The raging flames of war and the hideous faces of countless invaders were reflected in everyone’s pupils.

Amatullah let out a hoarse laugh, asking, “If we make it back to five years ago, what’s the first thing you want to do?”

Antonio: “Collect protection fees.”

“…” Margot laughed, “I’d hurry up and have my daughter again; what about you?”

Amatullah raised an eyebrow mischievously and said, “I’ll have Bai Sheng remember all the US stock trends and lottery numbers for the past five years, and when we get back, I’ll buy each of you ten Lamborghinis.”

Antonio was enlightened: “Damn, that’s possible?! No wonder Bai Sheng was memorizing numbers yesterday… We’re colleagues; give me a couple of those lottery tickets!!”

Amid the roar of thunder, the four walls and the ground beneath their feet all collapsed. Hundreds of attacking powers rushed into the base along with the tide of invaders. With a clang, Amatullah drew out her saber, and the cold light reflected a star of blood in her eyes: “Come on, colleagues.”

“May we be reborn from this battle; see you five years ago.”

·

Half an hour earlier, in the urban area of Shenhai.

HRG Laboratory.

The hospital building had been cleared, with all second-generation HRG researchers led by Director Gao gathered in the underground lab. The armed security force of Shenhai’s supervision office guarded the perimeter, in a state of tense and solemn readiness.

With a whoosh, the safety door opened, and Bai Sheng strode in with a satellite phone, saying in a deep voice, “Got it; signal me when it’s time for Supervisor Yue to return; be careful.”

He hung up, looking at the tense faces in the large laboratory: “Rong Qi has gathered over 400 high-level evolutionists to attack the Baihai Meteorite Base. He took the bait. If my prediction is correct, he’ll soon send his space user to his real target, the HRG lab.”

Everyone instinctively held their breath, and the armed security team leader couldn’t help but ask, “Bai-ge, what about Supervisor Shen, our Supervisor…”

“Shen Zhuo is still alive.” Bai Sheng looked around, his gaze sweeping over the tense eyes, his tone calm and full of power: “I promise to bring Supervisor Shen back, to resurrect the dead, to calm the chaos, to return everything to the way it was five years ago. I promise you all will return to your best positions.”

The security team leader took several quick breaths and, along with everyone else, respectfully responded, “Yes!”

Clapping twice, Bai Sheng reminded, “Everyone, evacuate the building and follow the plan. Defend at all costs and eliminate the intruders. Understood?”

“Yes!!”

The armed security team quickly evacuated and set up defenses. Bai Sheng approached Director Gao, with Chu Yan and Yang Xiaodao standing guard at the lab bench.

“This is what you asked for.” Director Gao opened a familiar silver cooler, revealing a B-class  serum fixed in its holder, one of the two disguised superhuman serums—the other had been swiftly sent to the meteorite base for Antonio.

“Using it on an SS-class might not last very long, but it will definitely fool Shunsuke Noda and allow you to pass through the space tunnel smoothly. By the way, the more familiar the person you disguise as, the longer the effect…”

“No,” Bai Sheng interrupted, a sly smile curling his lips, “I’m not the one using it.”

Director Gao: “?”

Bai Sheng picked up the serum and gestured, summoning Yang Xiaodao. The 17-year-old approached expressionlessly, standing tall at 1.8 meters in a black short-sleeved shirt and camouflage pants, his lean and muscular physique a spitting image of his scoundrel father in his growth phase.

Bai Sheng put his arm around his son’s shoulder, asking in a low voice, “Did you read the book I gave you last night, ‘The Actor’s Self-Cultivation’?”

Yang Xiaodao confidently twisted open the syringe: “Piece of cake. Act normal.”

Chu Yan: “…”

Yang Xiaodao injected the needle into the vein of his arm, and the entire solution was immediately injected into his bloodstream. Instantly, his entire body began to transform—height and bones compressed, facial features adjusted, and every detail from head to toe was refined. Within mere seconds, his skin turned snow-white and translucent, his fingers became slender, and his lips turned cherry-red. He confidently ran a hand through his hair, then hurriedly grabbed the waistband of his pants that had slipped down.

He had transformed into Chu Yan.

Director Gao’s jaw hit the floor with a bang.

Chu Yan covered her face with both hands, looking utterly mortified.

“Not bad, son,” Bai Sheng exclaimed in shock as he looked Yang Xiaodao up and down. “Try walking a few steps.”

Yang Xiaodao walked briskly, almost tripping over his size 41 shoes. He stomped his foot on the chair, cracked his knuckles twice, and said in a deep voice:

“If you don’t pass the comprehensive science exam at the end of the semester, I’ll kill you.”

Bai Sheng clapped his hands, and Chu Yan angrily scolded: “What kind of image do you have of me?”

“How… how do you plan to do this, Mr. Bai?” Director Gao, still in shock and confusion, couldn’t help but ask, “If you don’t disguise yourself, Shunsuke Noda will know it’s a trap as soon as he sees you. That space ability user won’t betray Rong Qi even if he dies. So what else can we—”

“It doesn’t matter,” Bai Sheng said, raising his long, sharp eyebrows with an indescribable mischievousness, “He can’t see me.”

Director Gao: “?”

“He can’t see me with his eyes; he can’t detect me with instruments… As long as I want, I am invisible to him.”

Even though Director Gao had an academic IQ of 160, he was thoroughly confused, with three question marks neatly popping up over his head.

Bai Sheng didn’t explain further. He tossed the empty syringe into the air and caught it casually, glancing around the vast lab floor, then lightly tapping the top of Yang Xiaodao’s head:

“Where’s my close friend? Didn’t he come downstairs yet?”

·

Upstairs on the lab floor at the Evolutionary Specialist Hospital of Shenhai City.

The curtains in the ward were drawn tightly, and the dim light outlined the sleeping face of Shui Ronghua.

Perhaps she had a premonition of the inevitable parting in her fate, as even in her sleep, the female doctor’s brows were tightly knitted, showing a hint of struggle and unease.

“…I’m sorry,” the Witch Italdo murmured.

Her spirit floated by the bedside, long red hair cascading behind her ears, as she rested her chin in her hand, watching her lover with the same lonely and sorrowful gaze she had in countless deep nights.

“If you were awake, I wouldn’t have the courage to do this. Maybe… maybe one day, when you think of me, you’ll only remember my tear-streaked face at the last moment.”

On the small table by the bedside, there was an open letter. It was a letter the Witch Italdo wanted to leave before she left. But she couldn’t write the Earth language well, and after scribbling clumsily for a long time, she finally threw the dictionary aside in frustration and gave up.

“Perhaps you will wake up and return to five years ago. You will not remember any pain, and the separation and death have never happened, just like most people in my hometown back then.” The witch thought for a while and sighed: “Although I am unwilling, but… maybe you will be happier that way.”

The five years flowed by like a stream in her memory. The first time she was trapped in Shui Ronghua’s body, curiously observing the world around her; the first time she used Shui Ronghua’s hands to cautiously touch the flowers and soil of Earth; the first time she tasted human “normal” food under Shui Ronghua’s encouragement… Joy, love, disappointment, sadness, hope—all these memories passed like a slideshow, ultimately returning to the moment she arrived on Earth. In the subway station, amidst the panicked crowd, only the female doctor opened her arms, filled with trust and acceptance.

It was as beautiful as a dream, as fleeting as a dream, and soon it was time to set off alone again.

She should have known. When she took up the law of causality and the timeline millions of years ago, she was destined for the fate of moving forward alone, never looking back.

“You know, I used to be so resentful.” The witch murmured, shaking her head absentmindedly, “Why did it have to be me who picked up the Spear of Time? Why did it have to be me to end everything? Why do others get a second chance, but evolution is so unfair to me?”

After a thousand years of fierce fighting, peace finally came. The pain and separation were wiped out. Everyone cheered and cried with joy. But only the comrades who persisted to the last moment could remember that there was a lonely warden who embarked on a journey farther and farther into the vast space.

They praised her, commemorated her, and built a giant statue of her holding the Spear of Time. No one knew the secret resentment and unwillingness deep in her heart.

Until endless time passed, and on the distant Earth millions of light-years away, when the returning Italdo first saw the grown-up Shen Zhuo, she thought she hated his meanness, suppression, and vigilance, but she didn’t realize what she truly feared and resisted was the familiar Spear of time in his soul.

“But now I don’t resent anymore,” Italdo said softly, her insubstantial fingers brushing through Shui Ronghua’s hair.

“When I set off again, I will remember the Earth getting farther behind me, remember the scent of flowers and soil on this land, and remember that you appeared in my life.”

“You will give me strength forever; until one day in the future, my soul will be forever obliterated in space.”

The witch’s kiss landed on Shui Ronghua’s forehead, marking her soul deeply, known to no one.

Knock, knock, knock.

The half-closed door was gently tapped, and Bai Sheng stood outside, quietly watching the two of them.

“Let’s go,” Italdo stood up and smiled back, “It’s time to set off!”

She casually patted Bai Sheng’s shoulder and walked out with her head held high, her figure as arrogant and upright as ever. Behind her came Bai Sheng’s rough voice: “Shen Zhuo and I will definitely try to find a way to bring you back after reversing time…”

Italdo didn’t turn back; her voice was forcedly light: “What can you two do?”

“…”

“I really like humans and this Earth.” Italdo turned her head, the backlight obscuring the slight glimmer of tears in her eyes. She suddenly burst into a radiant smile: “Promise me, take care of my love forever, okay?”

At the end of the hospital corridor, outside the window.

The sky was vast, stretching endlessly.

A deep space tunnel opened high above, revealing the lofty figure of Shunsuke Noda.

“Tsk,” he said, looking down at the sprawling Shenhai City, the high-rise buildings densely packed. His gaze landed on the distant building with the “Evolutionary Specialist Hospital” sign, and he flexed his fingers eagerly, his steel-like knuckles cracking.

In the space tunnel behind him, the figures of more than twenty mid to high-level evolutionists appeared one by one. At the forefront, Yoko Noda carried an energy monitor, skillfully opening and adjusting it. After a while, she nodded to her brother:

“No S-class energy fluctuations were detected at the target location, but there are a few A-class evolutionists, probably from the armed police force.”

With Shunsuke Noda’s combat power, ordinary strong A or even weak S-classes were no match for him. But there was one person in the world besides Bai Sheng who he had to be cautious of: “Is that chief upervisor in the central district definitely not there?”

Yue Yang was taciturn and reserved, but his combat strength was undeniable, and his Tai Chi Shield had a long-term blocking effect on space tunnels, making him a natural nemesis for Shunsuke Noda. If he were stationed at the HRG lab, Rong Qi wouldn’t have sent Shunsuke Noda to Shenhai.

Yoko Noda shook her head affirmatively: “That guy, surnamed Yue, isn’t here. But I detected space ability blocking devices, probably installed near the HRG lab.”

“Send people to remove them.” Shunsuke Noda glanced at his watch, tilted his head to indicate to his sister, “Time is tight, split up.”

Yoko nodded, gestured to the evolutionist behind her, and several figures rushed towards the hospital building like lightning—

At the same time, in the corner of the morgue.

Chu Yan’s eyes opened, her bird-like pupils instantly returning to normal. She softly spoke two words into the tactical earpiece: “They’re here.”

Hundreds of thick vines suddenly burst from the ground, like giant serpents waving in mid-air. The pedestrians on the street screamed and scattered.

Immediately, the vines quickly surrounded the hospital building, breaking through windows from all angles, tearing up floors, and collapsing walls. Under Yoko Noda’s skilled manipulation, they found the ability blockers installed in the corners of the ceilings, cutting off the power with their sharp green claws.

——Buzz!

The current’s hum was very faint, but it instantly spread to every corner of the building.

The space ability blocking devices were now declared defunct.

Sharp alarms echoed throughout the building, and heavy metal gates slammed shut one after another. On the basement floor of the hospital, HRG researchers in white lab coats rushed toward the emergency exits, but the leading Witch Italdo, suddenly stopped in her tracks.

At the end of the corridor, a space portal suddenly opened, and the grim-faced Shunsuke Noda appeared, blocking the way with a dozen high-level evolutionists!

“…Wh-what do you want?!” Director Gao’s voice trembled as he spoke. After all, he was an ordinary human, an elderly man over fifty years old, and his fear was uncontrollable: “W-we won’t go with you! If, if, if you dare, just kill us!”

Shunsuke Noda said indifferently, “I’m afraid that’s not up to you.” He then signaled to his men.

A dozen subordinates immediately rushed into the HRG lab, efficiently gathering and packing all documents, disconnecting and taking away computer equipment, and using gravity abilities to lift and move large, complex machines into the space portal behind Shunsuke Noda.

In the meantime, Shunsuke Noda scanned the area.

Most HRG researchers were humans incapable of evolution, with a few low-level evolved elderly professors. Instead of worrying about them fighting back, it was more about them not injuring themselves in a panic.

The only ones with any combat capability were the nearly non-threatening Witch Italdo and a pale, slender girl with a cold expression, wearing an ill-fitting large T-shirt.

Shunsuke Noda found the girl familiar and, after a few seconds, remembered who she was — Chu Yan, a mere B-class evolutionist who once sought revenge on humanity by turning to Mr. Rong but later chose to join Shen Zhuo.

Typically, such betrayal would mean immediate execution, but at the moment, Shunsuke Noda didn’t feel much about it. After all, she was just an underage girl. What’s more, birds of a feather flock together. In his eyes, Shen Zhuo and this little girl were both the same kind of delicate and fragile creatures that could not be touched. It was not surprising that they shivered and huddled together for warmth. It was completely reasonable.

“—What do you want?” Witch Italdo took half a step back, her sharp red claws in front of her, eyes filled with a kind of nervousness masked by bravado: “Bai Sheng is already on his way back to assist us. I advise you not to act rashly; he could arrive at any moment!”

“Really,” Shunsuke Noda twirled his dagger with a finger and sneered coldly, “Then let’s see if Bai Sheng is faster, or if space teleportation is faster.”

“Go!”

“Quickly!”

The scene was chaotic; researchers cursed and fled in terror, while the evolutionists grabbed them and sent them into the space portal. Director Gao stumbled, trying to draw his gun to commit suicide, but an evolutionist quickly restrained him. The witch reached out to stop them, but everyone knew she had weakened to only a low A-class on Earth and was not a combat-oriented evolutionist. Two A-class evolutionists rushed forward, pinning her down with knives.

“HRG’s results will never be handed over to you!” Director Gao, at least 90% genuinely terrified, trembled all over, struggling desperately. Even as he was forcibly taken away, he shouted angrily: “We conduct science not to destroy humanity; we will never submit to Mr. Rong, never!”

Shunsuke Noda sneered, “Mr. Rong has ways to deal with even your Supervisor Shen. I suggest you save your strength. Take them away!”

Cries and curses filled the air. Senior researchers were all taken into the dark space portal, and the entire lab floor was quickly emptied. Not far away, a subordinate hurried over and gestured towards the restrained Witch Italdo, asking in a low voice, “Brother, what do we do with her? Kill her?”

Shunsuke Noda knew that a spiritual entity couldn’t be killed; only the woman she possessed could be killed. Besides, they couldn’t leave the witch behind to provide clues to Bai Sheng, so he shook his head and said sternly, “Take her.”

“And the little girl?”

A mere girl, Shunsuke Noda naturally didn’t take her seriously, but knowing her abilities could be troublesome, he said, “Take her too. Mr. Rong will deal with them.”

His men received the order and quickly escorted the struggling and angry witch into the portal. Shunsuke Noda picked up his radio: “Just about done here. Come down to the basement for evacuation, quick!”

There was a crackling noise over the radio, then Yoko’s hurried reply: “Understood!”

Shunsuke Noda put down the radio and looked around the lab.

In the ventilation duct above, a lab mouse blinked twice and quickly scurried into the pipes.

—Now’s the time.

In the corner of the morgue, Chu Yan suddenly got up. Moving with cat-like agility, she hugged the wall and dashed out, heading straight for the electrical room at the end of the same corridor.

The electrical room had a backup power source that could reconnect the building’s ability shielding devices. However, the hospital corridor had completely transformed, with giant vines bursting through walls and floors, densely wrapping the electrical room’s door. Even the slender Chu Yan couldn’t squeeze through. Knowing that every second counted, she gritted her teeth, pulled out a dagger, and slashed through two vines, green sap oozing out.

Meanwhile.

In the corridor far away, Yoko Noda, who was about to meet her brother, stopped in her tracks, as if she sensed something.

Chu Yan rushed into the electrical room, quickly flipping the backup power switches, and was about to pull down the main switch—

Yoko Noda’s face changed drastically. She turned and swung her arm; the thick vines in the electrical room came alive, whipping through the air and striking Chu Yan, sending her flying!

“Ah!”

With a loud crash, Chu Yan hit the wall, coughing up blood. In the corridor, Yoko Noda sprinted and shouted angrily into her radio: “Brother! Wait for me! That girl named Chu Yan is hiding in the electrical room. I’ll deal with her immediately!”

Shunsuke Noda was stunned, staring incredulously at the “girl named Chu Yan” who was following behind the Witch Italdo with a cold expression, stepping into the portal.

“…”

Their eyes met, and the air froze.

In the next moment, everyone realized what had happened, and “Chu Yan” unhesitatingly leaped towards the portal. But Shunsuke Noda, known as the strongest spatial evolutionist, closed the portal entrance in a flash—

The last second before disappearing, Witch Italdo turned back, desperately reaching out to “Chu Yan,” but it was too late.

The space black hole vanished, and “Chu Yan” stopped, turning around and throwing a punch, hitting Shunsuke Noda in the face, making his nose and mouth bleed!

“Who the hell are you—”

“Chu Yan”‘s height and muscles changed dramatically, and in the blink of an eye his true appearance was revealed. It was Yang Xiaodao.

Shunsuke Noda was shocked and angry: “F*ck!”

It was impossible to sneak into the space tunnel at this time, but Yang Xiaodao had an extremely quick mind in combat, and he immediately realized that there was only one urgent task, which was to stop Shunsuke Noda from returning to Rong Qi at all costs. The last time Rong Qi used the space tunnel to escape the law of causality must never happen again!

Shunsuke Noda lunged forward, grabbing Yang Xiaodao’s iron punch. In their struggle, the two strong A-classes crashed through the wall like cannonballs. The high-level evolutionists were about to help when a burst of gunfire erupted behind them. Armed security forces rappelled down, smashing through windows, and engaged Rong’s men in fierce combat.

So this was the plan!

Shunsuke Noda’s first thought was, “How dare you sneak in to attack Mr. Rong?” and the second thought was, “Finish this quickly. We must not delay. We have to kill this brat before Bai Sheng arrives!”

Amidst the gunfire, he flipped over, pinning Yang Xiaodao down. With a lightning-fast punch, Yang Xiaodao dodged, and the fist hit the ground, collapsing the concrete with a thunderous crash, sending both of them falling to the floor below.

Boom—

Yang Xiaodao smashed onto the ground, dust flying everywhere. Before he could stagger to his feet, a massive force grabbed him by the neck and slammed him against the wall, Shunsuke Noda’s murderous face looming close:

“Not killing you last time was my mistake…”

Yang Xiaodao was elbowed in the abdomen; his internal organs suddenly compressed, and his youthful abdominal muscles were far from being able to withstand such a devastating blow, causing him to spew out a mouthful of blood.

“Die,” Shunsuke Noda said coldly, delivering a heavy punch to Yang Xiaodao’s chest!

The sound of Yang Xiaodao’s ribs cracking was audible, and he nearly spewed his organs out; another punch followed, breaking through the wall, and he fell backwards. Shunsuke Noda seemingly vanished into thin air, reappearing above to deliver a downward punch aimed at Yang Xiaodao’s head!

The iron fist, weighing as much as a thousand pounds, would surely shatter his skull.

Time seemed to stretch infinitely, the ferocious fingers reflected in Yang Xiaodao’s pupils, the fist getting closer and closer—

“Combat is an art that combines precision, calmness, and strategy,” Bai Sheng’s voice echoed in his mind in that infinitely long silence: “Every move you make must anticipate the next three to four steps of your opponent, setting up your positioning, angle, and force point in advance, staying clear-headed, stable, and restrained.”

“Never let anger control you; you must set up the perfect game in a limited space.”

Positioning, angle, and force point.

—Within a millisecond.

With a crisp, clear snap, Yang Xiaodao, his face covered in blood, suddenly twisted Shunsuke Noda’s arm with both arms, applying force to twist it 360 degrees, instantly shattering his arm bones!

The reaction and timing of this move were beyond perfect; they could only be described as miraculous. Shunsuke Noda’s left arm was shattered, the excruciating pain leaving him unable to fight back. He was kicked away by Yang Xiaodao, smashing through three or four walls and landing heavily in the ruins.

“Huff… huff…”

Yang Xiaodao staggered to his feet, his eyes bloodshot and gasping for breath. In an instant, he left behind an afterimage and leaped into the air, rushing towards Shunsuke Noda, gripping his hair and slamming his head into the ground like a frenzied beast.

Bang! Bang! Bang!!

The speed was like a storm; the ground caved in, walls collapsed, and Shunsuke Noda bled from all orifices. The continuous head slams caused him to be utterly disoriented, and in his struggle, he grabbed Yang Xiaodao’s face with his right hand, while the youth twisted his elbow—

Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat!

Suddenly, a burst of machine gun fire rang out from behind, catching Yang Xiaodao off guard and riddling him with bullets. With an incredulous expression still on his face, he swayed a few times before collapsing weakly to the ground.

Shunsuke Noda, panting heavily, got up with the help of a subordinate rushing over with a machine gun: “Brother! We need to go!”

Shunsuke Noda’s head was covered in blood and he looked miserable. He kicked Yang Xiaodao to vent his anger and stretched out his hand to tear open the tunnel with his spatial ability: “Yoko’s side…”

Before he finished speaking, he realized something was wrong.

His powers were being blocked, and the space portal couldn’t be opened.

—Time rewinds three seconds.

In the control room, Chu Yan’s slender left ankle was being dragged back by the vine, but she crawled desperately towards the control panel, stretching her fingers to their limit, finally managing to touch the main switch and pull it down!

Buzz.

Backup power surged through, reactivating the space-blocking devices throughout the area!

With a bang, the control room door was kicked open, and Yoko Noda’s menacing figure appeared. She stretched out her hand, and Chu Yan was lifted into the air, gripped tightly by the throat. “You little bitch—”

Pfft.

The sound of a sharp object piercing flesh was clear and crisp. Yoko Noda was stunned, looking down.

Chu Yan held a dagger with both hands, stabbing it upward into her ribs with all her might!

Yoko Noda, in excruciating pain, flung Chu Yan away, clutching her bleeding wound and staggering back, cursing in a string of Japanese expletives: “@#¥%&*!”

She furiously pulled out the dagger, only to see Chu Yan rolling on the ground, getting up, and wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth. She picked up a steel pipe from the debris and rubble on the ground.

Chu Yan, in a white shirt and blue skirt with short, neat hair, looked clean and quiet. But she was most adept with crowbars and steel pipes, once using an iron bar to break the limbs of a gang member, forcing them into a crouched position. On one side was a top student at the Central Research Institute, and on the other was a juvenile delinquent at the Shenhai Supervision Office.

With a bloody smirk on her lips, she mocked:

“You stupid monster.”

In an instant, her skirt flew as she leaped into the air, swinging the steel pipe fiercely, and she struck Yoko Noda on the head!

“——Something’s wrong with Yoko over there.” On the underground level of the hospital, Shunsuke Noda’s expression changed: “Let’s go!”

He charged towards the control room without hesitation, but at that moment, his ankle was suddenly grabbed tightly by a bloodied hand:

“You… can’t leave…”

Yang Xiaodao was not dead. He fell to the ground with a weak breath. He pulled out a pure black metal injection tube from his arms. The serum was flashing with energy, and a letter A was engraved on the tube cap.

—It was given to him by Shen Zhuo, using Yang Xiaodao’s own serum to cultivate a booster that temporarily broke through age barriers, dramatically increasing muscle, bone, and power, reaching his adult combat strength.

Shen Zhuo had used this war-god level serum in his deadly battle with Nielsen, almost killing him on the spot.

Shunsuke Noda’s pupils contracted, and in a flash, Yang Xiaodao injected the syringe into his own neck!

A blue glow flashed through his blood vessels, followed by an explosion of energy. His wounds healed, and bullets were expelled from his body, clattering to the ground.

This terrifying regeneration ability was a sign of reaching the pinnacle of physical evolution, a feat achieved by only a handful of the world’s strongest.

The true peak of a Class-A.

Shunsuke Noda laughed in anger: “…You ignorant little brat!”

He grabbed the machine gun and fired, but the bullets hit the concrete floor as the boy’s figure vanished. In the same instant, Yang Xiaodao, like a ghost, approached from behind, unleashing a bright flash of lightning from his palm—

The crackling sound was deafening, and hundreds of lightning bolts slashed diagonally into the ground!

Shunsuke Noda rolled over desperately, barely avoiding the series of electric arcs. Before he could get up, Yang Xiaodao grabbed him by the collar, with an incomparable speed and exponentially increased strength. Boom!!

A terrifying punch sent Shunsuke Noda tumbling, his skull shattered, blood spraying from his nose and mouth, and spitting out half a bloody tooth.

“What… what are you?!”

The subordinate, who had fired the shot earlier, could hardly believe his eyes. Gritting his teeth, he pushed out a massive burning fireball, sending it hurtling towards Yang Xiaodao, the temperature soaring to over a thousand degrees Celsius.

The boy stood tall and cold, catching the blazing fireball with a hand and extinguishing it upon contact. The black smoke quickly dissipating.

“Impossible… impossible!”

The subordinate retreated in disbelief, but Yang Xiaodao snapped his fingers.

Snap.

The man was instantly torn apart, his limbs ripped from his body, unable to even scream before collapsing into a pool of blood.

“…A brat pretending to be an adult,” Shunsuke Noda wiped the blood from his jaw with his palm, gasping as he stood, his fierce features now even more terrifying. He summoned a bright katana into his hand.

He moved his neck, his strong bones crackling crisply, with a bloodthirsty gleam in his eyes:

“Then let me show you what a real adult can do.”

Two powerful A-class evolutionists, both at their peak, faced off against each other. The intense airflow between them was enough to make their skin sting. Yang Xiaodao’s sharp eyes narrowed, and just at the moment of a thunderous strike—

Boom!

The ceiling above collapsed in large chunks, and numerous green vines, wrapped around bricks and debris, poured down. Yoko Noda screamed in fury, “You little brat, I’ll kill you!!”

With two crashing sounds, Yoko Noda and Chu Yan tumbled to the ground, grappling with lightning speed. The frenzied Chu Yan tore off a large piece of Yoko Noda’s scalp, causing her to scream in pain. Enraged, Yoko Noda used a vine to grab Chu Yan mid-air and smash her hard against the wall, with the sound of bones breaking clearly audible.

“Chu Yan!”

Yang Xiaodao leaped to the rescue without hesitation, but with a clang, a long blade blocked his way. Shunsuke Noda was already in front of him, spitting out two mocking words: “Trying to run?”

Yoko Noda, driven insane with rage, lunged to twist Chu Yan’s neck. But at that moment, Chu Yan grabbed her hair, forcing her head back. A terrified squeak echoed as a small white mouse fell from the ceiling. Using her animal empathy power, it clawed out Yoko Noda’s left eye!

“Ahhhhhhh—”

Shunsuke Noda cried out: “Yoko!”

He turned to save her, but before he could take a step, a punch blocked his way. He was met with Yang Xiaodao’s cold, fierce eyes: “Trying to run?”

Forced to stop, Shunsuke Noda saw Chu Yan flip over, straddling the struggling, screaming Yoko Noda. With her right arm broken, Chu Yan used her remaining left hand to lift a steel pipe high and thrust it down with all her strength!

Blood sprayed into the air.

Yoko Noda’s eyes widened in shock as the steel pipe pierced through her chest, pinning her to the blood-soaked ground.

The room fell deathly silent. Both Shunsuke Noda and Yang Xiaodao turned their heads, their faces blank with shock.

Then, a vine in the distance suddenly stabbed Chu Yan from behind. The sharp blade had already reached his back. Chu Yan had no way to avoid it.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three shots rang out, breaking the vine. Through the hole in the ceiling, a figure in a white coat, kneeling and panting from running, was revealed to be Shui Ronghua.

Yoko Noda finally died, collapsing heavily into the pool of blood.

“Yoko!!”

Yang Xiaodao quickly pulled Chu Yan aside. Shunsuke Noda had already picked up his sister’s body, torn between grief and disbelief. His first reaction was to charge at Yang Xiaodao in rage, but before he could move, he realized something even more horrifying.

He turned slowly to look at Shui Ronghua, feeling a chill run through his body.

——The female doctor was here.

So who was that entering the space tunnel with Witch Italdo earlier?

He had completely fallen into a trap!

Shunsuke Noda’s face changed dramatically. With a vague and terrifying guess in mind, he turned to rush out of the hospital building, intending to open a space tunnel and immediately return to Mr. Rong’s side. But before he could take a step, a blur appeared before him. Boom!

Yang Xiaodao flashed into view, his heavy steel gloves crashing to the ground and releasing a burst of bright blue electricity.

“…” Shunsuke Noda gripped his katana, took a half-step back, his muscles tense, his mind racing with one thought: What are they planning? What’s happening with Mr. Rong?!

“Only realizing it now?”

Yang Xiaodao’s face was calm, his sharp features steely, as he raised a hand. Despite his lean and youthful build, the pressure of a top-tier A-class adult radiated overwhelmingly: “But it’s already too late.”

“Because I’m going to leave your corpse here.”

·

——Outside the hospital, far from Shenhai City.

The space tunnel closed with a whoosh. Witch Italdo desperately reached back, but could only watch as Yang Xiaodao vanished outside the tunnel.

The witch was thunderstruck: “What the hell?!”

For a moment, she didn’t know whose ancestors to curse, but it was certainly too late to save Yang Xiaodao now. The pitch-black space tunnel quickly receded, revealing a sealed hall with no windows, likely an underground facility somewhere.

The exit of the space tunnel disappeared behind them. The HRG researchers trembled and huddled together instinctively, with a look of fear on everyone’s face.

In front of them, four A-class evolutionists of different races stood on either side, with a figure sitting in an armchair in the middle. Dressed in black, he examined the Spear of Time in his hands.

It was Rong Qi.

He turned his head, glancing at the crowd, already aware that Shunsuke Noda had been blocked at the other end of the space tunnel. He narrowed his eyes thoughtfully and clicked his tongue:

“It seems the HRG lab isn’t entirely defenseless after all.”

“…Who are you? What do you want? Where is Supervisor Shen?” Director Gao, trembling behind Witch Italdo, asked the crucial question despite his fear: “Has Supervisor Shen been killed by you?”

“I’ve merely asked Supervisor Shen to rest for a while.” Rong Qi stood up, speaking mildly: “But if you all refuse to help me with one thing, your lives might be lost even sooner than his.”

He made a slight gesture.

His subordinate understood, quickly bringing a refrigerated box. Opening it revealed a 500cc bag of blood.

“I need you to use this evolutionist blood sample to cultivate a gene interferon. In return, I will ensure each of your lives, rather than leaving you like the first-generation researchers, dead and mutilated.”

The crowd murmured in fear.

“If you have the guts, kill us all!” A young professor couldn’t hold back his anger and shouted at Rong Qi: “We’d rather die with a clear conscience. Science is not for destroying humanity! You—”

A cold light flashed in the air, and an ice arrow pierced through the air.

No one expected Rong Qi to kill so decisively. The arrow was aimed to impale the professor, but in a flash, the witch blocked it with her blade, clanging as it was cut in half.

The loud clang echoed deafeningly, causing the group of researchers to instinctively duck and retreat.

The witch pointed her sword at Rong Qi: “Stop!”

“……”

Rong Qi narrowed his eyes, then slowly said, “I thought our grudges ended in the last universe, Italdo.”

“I thought your ambitions ended in the last universe too. What? Do you think you can do whatever you want on Earth?”

The two faced off, the tension palpable. Rong Qi’s expression was inscrutable, as if he were evaluating something. After a moment, he shook his head.

“You’re no match for me now, Italdo.” His tone was surprisingly calm. “Step aside. You’re the only one of my kind on Earth right now, and I don’t want to kill you.”

But the witch stood firm with her sword raised: “Wanna bet?”

Rong Qi said coolly, “Are you trying to stall for time until Bai Sheng arrives? It’s useless; Bai Sheng won’t be able to find this place…”

“Wanna bet?”

Rong Qi took a deep breath, exhaled slowly, and after a few seconds, opened his eyes, the cold black pupils reflected in the witch’s eyes:

“If you insist, then you’ll be the first to die.”

Before the last word even fell, he was already in front of the witch, towering like the Grim Reaper, his sharp fingers aimed at her heart—

A simple and swift heart-stabbing move with such overwhelming force that even an S-rank couldn’t evade it.

Snap!

No one expected the witch to grab Rong Qi’s elbow at that moment; her frightening strength even made his bones creak.

“Give up, Rong Qi.” The witch’s deep red pupils shone with an indescribable light. “On every planet, there will be someone to stand against you, even at the cost of their lives.”

Rong Qi’s brow twitched.

In the next instant, the witch underwent a rapid transformation from head to toe, revealing the original owner of the body she was currently inhabiting—

“Well, good afternoon.”

Bai Sheng smiled mockingly at Rong Qi’s stunned expression, his two fingers coming together with a flash of cold light, a deadly causal force ready to strike:

“I’m here to take Shen Zhuo home and send you on your way. Are you happy to see me?”

How is he here?!!

Rong Qi’s face changed drastically. He tried to retreat, but Bai Sheng slapped him away heavily. Amid the loud crashes, Rong Qi smashed through seven or eight walls, causing a collapse all around.

The four A-class evolutionists, furious and shocked, charged from different directions. Before they could make a desperate all-out attack, Bai Sheng, his face as calm as water, made a slicing motion.

Crack.

Three heads flew up simultaneously, trailing lines of blood, their headless bodies collapsing one after another before Bai Sheng, then spurting blood and falling to the ground.

The last one was grabbed by the throat with Bai Sheng’s single hand, lifted into the air, face turning purple, struggling desperately, but to no avail beyond a deathly spasm.

“Tell me where Shen Zhuo is.” Bai Sheng’s eyes gleamed with icy murder, speaking gently: “I might let you die less painfully.”
