Chapter 80: I admit that Shen Ti and I had that kind of relationship.
An Wujiu originally thought that in the face of Shen Ti’s tricks, he would remain indifferent.
But in the moment he locked eyes with those green orbs, he found his heart racing unusually fast, as if it didn’t belong to him but was being lured back by those eyes.
In that instant, An Wujiu thought of the magma in the containment center and Shen Ti’s anger at his decision.
And the scene of neon lights streaming through the window of that shoddy adult hotel, reflecting in Shen Ti’s eyes.
Shen Ti’s gaze shifted.
Because he unexpectedly noticed a faint blush spreading across An Wujiu’s usually pale face.
Shen Ti chuckled lightly, released his grip on An Wujiu’s chin, curled his fingers, and lightly brushed the flushed skin on An Wujiu’s cheekbone.
The gesture sent a jolt through An Wujiu’s spine.
But Shen Ti didn’t say anything more, and simply left the gambling table.
The dealer looked at the others. “Players must leave the table after playing all their cards. Once the last player leaves the table, the projection above the table will directly display the winning side’s faction and automatically settle and distribute the chips.”
Amy raised an eyebrow. “Such efficiency, don’t you need to review?”
The dealer turned to the people waiting outside the gambling table.
“Everyone, you only have six hours for the gambling banquet. Each table is open fairly to all players. Please save time for their lives.”
“Alright.” Amy wrapped her fur coat around herself and tapped the table, “Let’s start a new round.”
An Wujiu turned around and subconsciously glanced at Shen Ti.
He didn’t know if the guy had gone to find someone else already.
But when he really turned around, he saw Shen Ti standing just a meter away, hands in the pockets of his trench coat, smiling at him.
“Aren’t you leaving yet? What are you lingering here for?”
An Wujiu deliberately adopted a tone of disdain and turned his head to look at the cards in his hand.
He heard Shen Ti’s voice behind him, with a hint of amusement.
“Keeping an eye on me, my little guard?”
“What? Are you jealous?”
An Wujiu snorted coldly without answering.
Jealous of himself?
That’s absurd.
“The rest of the players continue.” The dealer pointed to An Wujiu’s position and said, “Starting from the player next to Shen Ti, player An Wujiu, please play your cards.”
The dealer said there wouldn’t be a chance for a review, meaning their covert maneuvers would be hard to detect unless someone noticed the incorrect number of cards being played.
But after so many rounds, with different players playing or not playing each round, and without photographic memory, it’s hard to remember the remaining cards of each opponent in every round.
He gave Shen Ti three 10s, which wasn’t necessary.
Because if he played all four 10s in his hand, it would be difficult for anyone to follow up in the later rounds.
It’s much simpler to play these cards together than individually.
An Wujiu just wanted to try and see if he would be punished by the holy altar for cheating in the gambling, since Zhou Yijue’s “cheating” was a deal and not pure cheating.
He could only try it while he was in his current state, because once he returned to his original state, he wouldn’t want to do these dishonest tricks.
But now that things have come to this point, An Wujiu’s thoughts have indeed been validated.
When the rabbit announced the rules, he didn’t say anything about cheating or card counting being prohibited; indeed, there were no taboos.
An Wujiu thought about the cards that had been played on the table earlier; the big cards had been played out already, so the probability of concentrating them in one person’s hand was even smaller.
Currently, there were only a few 6s, 7s, and 9s left on the table. Even if there were more cards in play, they were likely to be among these.
In his hand, he still had one 6, one 10, two 2s, and one Guard card.
At this point, it was necessary to play multiple cards; the advantage outweighed playing single cards.
“One 6.” An Wujiu drew a card and tossed it onto the table, “Anyone?”
Amy’s face lit up. “How could I not take that? Of course, I’ll take it.”
She played a 10, “Thank you, Boss An, for the opportunity.”
An Wujiu thought, ‘Amy hadn’t been asking for cards in the previous rounds; perhaps it wasn’t intentional, but she really didn’t have that many cards to play.’
Before performing the magic trick, Amy should have already seen the cards dealt to her by the dealer. At that moment, she might have realized that her cards weren’t good, so she decided not to align with the Emperor’s faction.
Although this reason isn’t sufficient, it can be considered one of them.
Now it’s Zhou Yijue’s turn. He didn’t have many cards left in his hand, so there was not much to choose from. He directly played a Q.
“I’ll take it.”
An Wujiu turns his head and smiled at Maguire.
“What about you? Are you the little guard in Shen Ti’s mouth?”
When Shen Ti left, Maguire’s entire demeanor relaxed a lot. The corners of his mouth also lifted, but with a hint of disdain, he snorted, “Who is this guard? You don’t know in your heart?”
“I’ll take it.”
After saying that, Maguire reveals a big joker, the one Shen Ti previously blocked him with fiercely. “Big joker, let’s see who can handle it.”
He looked somewhat relieved.
Amy laughs, “Finally, you’re willing to play your big joker?”
“The timing is right to play it.” Maguire’s gaze turned to her and An Wujiu, his eyes scanning them viciously, “One of you two must be the guard, stop pretending, play the guard card openly; let’s fight openly.”
Amy immediately protests, “I swear to God I’m not; where do you see a guard like me? I can’t even stop one person, so useless.”
Zhou Yijue stared at her. At first, because Amy gave Shen Ti a break, he suspected her too, but now, after playing for so long, Amy has almost given everyone a break. If she really were the guard, once the Emperor left, she would have come out to play by now.
At this point, whoever didn’t kill others wasn’t the Guard.
He returned his gaze to An Wujiu and Maguire.
The Emperor’s card has been played, and no one can handle this big joker card. After a round, everyone has made their choice to pass the cards.
Maguire finally got his chance!
He looked at his cards; there were only four 6s, three 9s, three Js, and a single 7 left in his hand.
At this moment, everyone’s cards were not many; one step away from victory, they might hand the victory to someone else.
He didn’t have time to count cards, but he roughly glanced over. Probably, there weren’t many pairs of high cards left on the table.
Four 6s, but 6s are probably too small…
After some thought, Maguire finally draws two cards and plays them on the table.
“Three 9s.”
Amy laughs, teasing him intentionally, “After all that hesitation, I thought you were going to play a super big card.”
Maguire frowns displeasedly, licking his lips, “Then do you want it?”
Amy touched the tips of her short hair and said, “I don’t want it.”
He also knew that currently there was only one big joker and one guard card on the table, and if these two cards were in the same person’s hand, he would have lost long ago.
So they must be separated; now it depends on whether they are willing to play them.
An Wujiu glances at Maguire’s cards, neatly stacked—probably not many. His expression at the moment looked much more nervous than before, with his hands pressed tightly on the armrest of the chair.
Either he was about to win…
Or are all the cards in his hand the same?
“Anyone want it?” Maguire’s hands are tightly clenched, as if afraid of someone seeing the number of his cards.
An Wujiu smiled and said, “Pass.”
Amy shrugged, “Of course, I’ll pass.”
Now it’s Zhou Yijue’s turn; his face was grim, clearly struggling. An Wujiu thought that he probably had more cards in his hand than Maguire. At this moment, it depended on whether he would think Maguire was the guard.
“You’re passing again,” An Wujiu deliberately said to Amy, “You’re such a good person, but unfortunately, I can’t hold it.”
Amy understood his meaning and pouted, “After all, except for me, it seems that no one is willing to give a break to the revolutionary party.”
An Wujiu laughed inwardly, thinking Amy was indeed a clever person. He glanced at Zhou Yijue and said, “Let’s see what Mr. Zhou decides.”
“Don’t try to push the guard card onto me.” Maguire was dissatisfied with the banter between the two, “I’m telling you, only An Wujiu and Zhou Yijue are likely to have this guard card!”
After hearing this, An Wujiu raises his eyebrows and says, “That’s great, just throw the blame directly on both of us.”
Maguire sneered, “Dare you say you have nothing to do with him? Wasn’t it obvious when he passed the message before leaving? He just wanted to push this guard card onto someone else, right?”
“Oh, really?”
An Wujiu smiled, flipped the cards over, and casually placed both hands on the table, speaking extremely ambiguously.
“I did have that kind of relationship with Shen Ti; there’s nothing to deny. But private life is private life, and playing cards is playing cards. I haven’t fed cards to anyone.”
“You!”
“What about me?” An Wujiu smiles, resting his chin on his hand, “What’s wrong with feeding someone? Why feed cards specifically?”
Shen Ti didn’t expect An Wujiu to say anything to win; he was not even blushing now, and even his ears were white.
Why did he blush suddenly earlier?
The two of them are competing against each other, and Zhou Yijue was also competing, but only against himself.
It was obvious that one of these two was the guard. An Wujiu gave off the impression of being the guard, but Maguire did indeed feed cards, and An Wujiu had been giving out signals from the beginning.
Seeing that time had passed, the dealer spoke up, “Please play your cards, next player.”
An Wujiu stared at Zhou Yijue. At this critical moment, he tapped the table three times.
“I’ll take it.”
In the end, Zhou Yijue decides to suppress Maguire first. The act of feeding cards was not clean. Compared to his intuitive suspicion, he preferred to believe in the facts that had already happened.
He drew three cards and placed them on the table.
“Three 10s.”
Among them was a big joker.
This round, Zhou Yijue took it.
“Are you f*cking crazy?” Maguire was extremely dissatisfied with his move; his mood was extremely volatile, almost flipping the whole table, “I told you, I’m not the guard! Can’t you f*cking understand?”
If he had known, he wouldn’t have played those three 9s!
Both sides were tense, but An Wujiu leisurely leaned back in his chair, taunting, “Stop struggling, your actions are too obvious.”
His words have two meanings. The others who didn’t see it will only understand his feeding card actions.
But Maguire knew in his heart there’s another meaning.
A new round begun, and it was Zhou Yijue’s turn to play.
He still had three 6s, three 7s, and a Q left in his hand, none of which were easy to play.
So he played a single Q; after all, it was his largest card at the moment.
Maguire has a neat set of four 6s in his hand, unable to play a larger single card, so he grudgingly says “pass”.
It was An Wujiu’s turn; he calculated, “I’ll take it.”
He played a 2.
No one could take it on the table.
Zhou Yijue suddenly realized something is wrong.
The guard card hasn’t been played yet at this moment.
A 2 gives An Wujiu the initiative for a new round, “10.”
He casually threw down a card, looking at the others, “Anyone?”
Amy hesitated for a moment, eventually choosing to pass the card, “I’ll pass.”
Zhou Yijue had no cards to take.
Just now, Zhou Yijue played the only card that could suppress this 10.
At this moment, Zhou Yijue realized it.
His hands clenched into fists under the table.
He made a mistake in his decision-making.
“You don’t even want a 10? This is the last card I have left.” An Wujiu lazily smiled, “Maguire, shouldn’t you have blocked me?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Maguire immediately dismantled his cards and threw out a J to block him.
“I want it! Give it to me!” His emotions still hadn’t stabilized, his face flushed, perhaps partly from the alcohol, and his voice seemed to squeeze out from between clenched teeth.
After the card hit the table, An Wujiu suddenly showed regret, sighing heavily, his face full of frustration and remorse.
“I shouldn’t have played it like that just now; I shouldn’t have played the 6 and 10 separately…”
This pretentious behavior from An Wujiu was reminiscent of Shen Ti from earlier.
Maguire, in his drunken frenzy, thought he had reached a turning point in the decisive round and couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
An Wujiu seemed oblivious to his laughter, only focusing on the table and stretching his neck to search until he found the previously played 6 and 10.
Then he placed another card on top of them.
“I should’ve played a pair of twos; that way even a single joker wouldn’t be able to beat it.”
The cards An Wujiu placed on top were the other 2 from the pair he split.
He deliberately played the two 2s separately, just to force out their cards one by one and see them crumble, because that’s more interesting.
The last big joker card on the stack was also manipulated out by An Wujiu in advance and used to strike at Zhou Yijue’s ally, with no one able to stop him.
No one could take it; even if Maguire was furious, he was powerless, only able to watch his cards die in his hands while watching An Wujiu start a new round.
“I told you I’m not; do you see now?!” Maguire had never encountered such a gambling situation, his pride trampled under An Wujiu’s foot, viciously crushed, “Quick! You must block him!”
If An Wujiu’s cards were small enough, there might have been a chance…
Zhou Yijue already knew the outcome.
“It’s useless, Maguire; you’ve gone mad.”
“Think about it carefully.”
Think about what cards you have.
“Don’t be so disheartened, actually, I’d love to let you guys have your way.” An Wujiu shrugged, tossing his cards onto the table, “But, too bad, I only have one left.”
He stood up from his chair, stretched his neck, and held the last single card in his hand.
The card that had been deliberately saved until the end to reveal, the Guard card, was also Maguire’s nightmare.
“Didn’t you want efficiency?” An Wujiu casually tossed the Guard card onto the table, then turned to the dealer, flashing a charming smile.
“You should have made them hand over their cards and surrender a long time ago.”
