Chapter 70: “You see, my little creditor is embarrassed.”

“How about it? Isn’t the name nice-sounding?” Shen Ti laughed like a big boy.

Toudou Sakura never expected Shen Ti to be like this.

This made her suspect the relationship between the handsome, long-haired boy in front of her and Shen Ti.

“Creditor?” Toudou Sakura withdrew her hand and carefully scrutinized the two of them.

“Could it be that what you owe is…” she deliberately blinked, “body?”

An Wujiu was about to explain, but Shen Ti behind him unexpectedly covered his mouth, answering for him.

“You can interpret it like that. After all, I’ve signed a contract to sell myself to him, even though it’s electronic, but at least we both signed our full names.”

Shen Ti grinned mischievously, saying everything as if it were true. “You see, my little creditor is feeling shy.”

Toudou Sakura looked at Shen Ti, feeling that he seemed to really like this An Wujiu. But that was normal; just now, when they were playing dice, Maguire seemed to have his eyes glued to An Wujiu.

An Wujiu was handsome and very intelligent; it was hard for anyone not to like him, right?

But…

She also stared at An Wujiu, looking very carefully.

It seems like he hasn’t realized it yet.

No way? These two haven’t even figured it out yet, and they’re so lovey-dovey already?

Then, doesn’t that mean I still have a chance?

However, she soon sighed again.

Compared to An Wujiu, she lacked some charisma. Except for Mount Wushan, there are no clouds1The phrase “除却巫山不是云” originates from Chinese literature and has been used in various contexts to express the idea of uniqueness or incomparability.
It suggests that Mount Wushan is so outstanding that it stands alone, without any comparable entity. Therefore, when applied to other contexts, it implies that the subject being discussed is unique, extraordinary, or unparalleled.
; it would be too difficult to make Shen Ti change his mind.

Maybe it’s better to pursue someone else. After all, she was young and beautiful; she shouldn’t hang herself on one tree.

An Wujiu had been staring at Toudou Sakura in front of him, feeling that her facial expressions were changing rapidly—one moment smiling, the next moment shocked, not knowing what was going on.

“Are you okay?” An Wujiu finally spoke with some concern. “Is there any effect from drinking the punishment drink just now?”

Seeing her love rival like this, Toudou Sakura felt like bursting into tears.

What kind of angel is this? Shen Ti is so blessed.

But she held it back and tiptoed to pat Shen Ti’s shoulder.

“Shen Ti, you better hurry up and don’t let him get away.”

Shen Ti and An Wujiu were both a bit puzzled, but Toudou Sakura had already waved goodbye, taking two quick steps and running off, probably to find someone else.

The two of them watched her back for a while.

An Wujiu turned his head first. “She’s quite cute.”

“Cute??” Shen Ti, upon hearing this, felt alarmed. Now he even had to be wary of girls. “Where’s the cuteness?”

“I can’t quite explain it.” An Wujiu’s expression was quite serious as he turned his head to look at her back, seeing her hopping around and talking to another player whom he didn’t recognize.

“Don’t look at her.” Shen Ti couldn’t stand it anymore. He reached out with both hands, cupping An Wujiu’s face and turning it toward himself. “She’s not cute. I’m cute. Look at me.”

An Wujiu was taken aback for a moment, then suddenly burst into laughter.

He was usually calm and composed, rarely laughing like this and looking like an innocent child.

Shen Ti was dazzled by this smile, suddenly feeling a sense of familiarity, as if he had seen the innocent An Wujiu from childhood.

“Let go of your hands!”

Wu You walked over to them. “Last time, you used this gesture to ‘kill’ that fake Wujiu brother.”

Nan Shan also nodded with a smile. “Yeah, with a snap, his neck twisted.”

Upon hearing this, An Wujiu’s smile diminished a lot. He took his hand down, deliberately followed their words, and commented to Shen Ti, “So ruthless.”

Shen Ti was not annoyed at being teased. He just deliberately imitated An Wujiu’s expression and tone, repeating his words but exaggerating them several times.

“So ruthless~”

An Wujiu was about to retort, but suddenly, the broadcast in the hall sounded.

“Good evening, survivors!”

It was the voice of that magic rabbit from the previous game again.

An Wujiu’s expression instantly turned cold.

“First of all, I want to congratulate everyone on winning in the intense competition of the last round and also congratulate the 54 players for completing the warm-up game.”

Upon hearing this, An Wujiu immediately looked around.

Sure enough, he spotted Zhong Yirou and Yang Erci being pushed to the edge by the crowd at the entrance of the first-floor hall.

“Yirou!”

He rarely shouted out loud, and Zhong Yirou quickly spotted them. She grabbed Yang Erci’s hand and made her way through the crowd to An Wujiu and Shen Ti.

“Are you guys alright?” An Wujiu asked.

“We’re doing great,” Zhong Yirou said proudly. “I won the warm-up match.”

Shen Ti whistled.

“Really impressive.”

“That’s right, I, Zhong-Jie, didn’t just tag along for nothing.”

Inside the hall, the voice of the rabbit continued.

“This time, you are invited to enter this brand-new game, the Game of Life and Death Banquet. I believe that since the warm-up game began, you all have felt the atmosphere of this formal game.”

Upon hearing this, An Wujiu realized that since the Red and Black Carnage, the warm-up game was intertwined with the formal game, more like a prologue.

Guessing numbers hinted at the suspicion and calculation needed for the subsequent formal game; caged birds suggested the children and women in the containment center; and the dice game just now was merely the beginning of this high-stakes banquet.

“Don’t be nervous. You should feel lucky to be able to play games on this giant luxury airship. This airship has three floors: the third floor is where you just played liar’s dice, the first floor is the hall you’re in now, and the second floor is the exchange area.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the players in the hall started whispering.

There was a smile in Rabbit’s voice, “Don’t worry, you will know what the exchange area is in a while.”

After he finished speaking, large tables suddenly appeared in the hall—quite a number of them. Each table was surrounded by blue light screens on all sides, creating an area similar to a room but not completely isolated.

Soon, projections like neon signs appeared on the light screens of different areas, each displaying some words.

“Da Vinci game?”

“Texas Hold’em, as expected.”

“And blackjack.”

“… “

Listening to the discussions of everyone present, An Wujiu began to feel worried.

This time, they finally managed to gather together during player matchmaking.

“If you all have seen it, this game has prepared a variety of gambling games for everyone, big and small, requiring wit and courage. Whatever you want, it’s here.”

The rabbit chuckled, continuing, “You can enjoy the excitement and pleasure brought by gambling to your heart’s content here. Not only that, all the amounts you win through gambling will eventually become your equal amount of reward points after you survive!”

An Wujiu frowned slightly.

But then…

“But not everyone can win, right?” Zhou Yijue nearby smiled. “If you lose, doesn’t it mean you’re in debt, and you have to use our points to repay it?”

“You can rest assured about this.”

The rabbit stated, revealing an even more dreadful fact, “Those in debt may not necessarily survive.”

Then, he announced the results of the warm-up game to everyone.

“Just now, in the liar’s dice game, you all played on the third floor, there were a total of nine group winners.”

He read out the names of these nine individuals, and An Wujiu glanced over them. Besides Shen Ti and Zhong Yirou, he didn’t recognize the other winning players.

“These nine winners have obtained the voting rights of the game system. Based on their votes, the format for this round of the Game of Life and Death Banquet is—”

“Multiplayer team matches.”

An Wujiu breathed a sigh of relief.

Finally, it’s time for team matches.

They had worked so hard to gather together in the game; it would be a waste if they couldn’t form a team.

“You have ten minutes to form your teams. Each team consists of 9 people, totaling 6 teams. And through internal voting, choose a team leader. This team leader is crucial, so don’t choose lightly.”

“By the way, players who won in the early warm-up games will receive two rewards. One of them is that they will have 1.5 voting power in the selection of the team leader.”

An Wujiu realized that the winners of the warm-up games would likely play a crucial role in selecting the team leader.

“Now that the format is explained, let’s take a look at the game itself. It’s actually quite simple. You can think of this luxury airship as a magnificent underground casino, and your only goal as gambler entering the casino, of course, is money; the more, the better. So—”

In the center of the grand and exquisite ceiling of the hall, a huge countdown suddenly appeared. At this moment, it had not yet started, staying at 06:00:00.

An Wujiu stared at the countdown about to begin.

It was limited to six hours.

“To achieve victory and become the survivors of this game, you all need to win as many gambling games as possible within these 6 hours, gain more chips, and exchange all chips for points.
After the countdown ends, the team with the most points will win the final victory and become the survivor team of this round!”

There was a buzz in the hall.

“What about the losing teams?”

“Yeah, there are six teams! If only one team wins, what about the remaining 45 people?!”

“Yeah! This format is too terrifying!”

“Don’t worry.” The rabbit smiled. “I haven’t finished yet.”

The crowd stopped talking, gradually quieting down.

“While it’s inevitable for the team with the highest points to become the survivor team, it doesn’t mean that the remaining individuals have to be eliminated.”

An Wujiu suddenly realized something.

“Except for the team ranked first in the points leaderboard, the player on each remaining team who earns the most points will also qualify as a survivor. Fair, isn’t it?”

They seemed to be sowing the seeds of division within the teams.

An Wujiu thought to himself that if they only selected the team with the highest points, then every player in the hall would strive to win as many chips as possible for their team. Due to their shared interests, everyone’s goals would align, and competition would only exist between teams.

But now, by introducing this rule, the holy altar ensured that there would be competition within each non-survivor team as well.

Shen Ti suddenly sneered.

“It seems like they haven’t abandoned their bad habit of testing human nature.”

Indeed, this was a test of human nature.

An Wujiu lowered his eyes.

Perhaps one moment they were comrades fighting together, and the next moment they would be battling for the sole survivor qualification.

“All the gambling games here are available for you to choose from freely. Whether you want to try each one or repeatedly play the same one, it’s up to you. See which one you excel at. However…” the rabbit reminded them once again, “don’t forget to exchange your chips.”

Standing not far away, Toudou Sakura spoke up, “How do we exchange them?”

“Regarding the exchange, you’ll get the relevant rules when you go to the exchange area on the second floor. But I can give you a little hint.” The rabbit giggled, “When exchanging, there must be physical contact.”

What a strange rule.

Before everyone could react, piano music filled the hall.

“After the music ends, you must complete your teams. If there are individuals unable to form a team or teams unable to gather nine people, they will automatically be grouped together.”

“The pilgrimage to the holy altar begins again. Everyone, good luck.”

The rabbit’s voice faded away in the hall.

An Wujiu still pondered over the second reward for the winners of the warm-up game, but the rabbit didn’t mention it. Perhaps it would be revealed in the subsequent game stages.

Despite the soothing piano music playing in the hall, everyone seemed more anxious than ever, fearing they wouldn’t find a good team.

Wu You, Nan Shan, Zhong Yirou, and Yang Erci naturally joined Shen Ti and An Wujiu’s team, making them a noticeably small team in the hall.

In his naturally kind state, An Wujiu exuded a natural leadership aura. Not because of his strong leadership skills or dominant strategy formulation and execution, but because he always empathized with others, attempting to protect everyone.

“We still need to find three more,” Nan Shan asked, “Wujiu, do you have any ideas?”

Shen Ti clicked his tongue upon hearing this.

Nan Shan was observant, immediately correcting himself, “An Wujiu.”

An Wujiu was taken aback by the sudden seriousness in Nan Shan’s tone, but with time running out, he didn’t have the energy to dwell on such trivial matters. Instead, he looked around, searching for suitable teammates for their team.

To ensure the survival of the entire team, it would be best if each member had a particular skill, and the gap between them shouldn’t be too significant. In a game like gambling, social skills were crucial.

It wasn’t easy…

Unexpectedly, as he looked around, he spotted someone.

“Hey, little angel, you still need people, right?”

It was Toudou Sakura, waving as she approached them.

“Would you mind if I joined your group?” Toudou Sakura smiled coyly, hands behind her back.

“Not at all,” An Wujiu replied without hesitation, extending a friendly hand toward her. “Welcome to our team.”

However, this friendliness seemed to rub someone else the wrong way.

Toudou Sakura smiled and was about to shake his hand when another hand interjected, blocking An Wujiu.

It was Shen Ti, or more accurately, Shen Ti holding onto Wu You’s hand, who had come over to block An Wujiu.

“Are you out of your mind?” Wu You protested, bewildered.

Shen Ti pushed aside the protesting Wu You and gave a fake smile to Toudou Sakura.

“Welcome, welcome. Let’s all shake hands together.”
